About this listen

He’ll do anything to find his mate! Calix has been looking for his mate for years. There’s someone fated just for him, and no one else will do. But one look at Emma has Cal overwhelmed with protectiveness. He knows Emma is not the one, but that doesn’t stop him from stealing her and claiming her as his own.

Emma stinks.

Stinking is ideal for avoiding attention. But when it comes to the hot-as-sin alien mercenary who just rescued her from slavery, that’s the last thing she wants. Emma wants her muscle-bound hero, lock, stock, and barrel. Instead, he dumps her in the spare room to “keep her safe.” What a bummer!

But the more time they spend with each other, the more they realize they are perfect together. Will Calix give up his hunt for a mate to claim the female he loves? Or will Emma leave him in a misguided attempt to help him find his one true mate?

Can be listened to as a stand-alone or as part of the series. Growly mercenary and steamy scenes ahead. HEA guaranteed.

Calix and Emma

Emma is abducted from Earth and trained to be a slave. However her owner sold her soon after he got her to a fertility clinic because of her weird smell. However Emma is (temporarily) infertile due to a birth control shot, so she is sold again. There she meets Calix, it’s where she has to work as a “distraction slave”. When a fight breaks out Calix and his team rescues Emma and Calix takes her to their ship. Both Calix and Emma are great characters in this book. Obviously they belong together, the attraction is there, but their relationship is not that easygoing due to the smell of chemicals of Emma’s birth control. And maybe some misunderstandings!?!

I enjoyed this book very much. It is fun, adventurous and spicy. The story is very well written and the audio very well performed by the narrator. I absolutely recommend reading books from this author👍🏻

Always good stuff from Lynnea Lea

I have read so many books from this awesome and I love the stories. The characters are relatable and I love the protective fated mates trope. Who doesn’t!? This is the first audio book from this author. I enjoyed his reading the MMC characters but there were a few times when the FMC character voice was a little distracting. Overall great book!

Another Great Installment

I liked Calix and Emma's story. There was a little more overt discussion of the Tallean Mercenaries opposition to human slavery but it could still use more imo. I wanted to shake both the FMC and the MMC (more so the latter). Calix, you need to explain why you're angry! There was a bit of "the lost in translation" / lack of communication with these two, but they definitely grew on me. I actually really loved Calix's internal dialogue and once he actually started sharing! Troy Duran is amazing as always. I'm looking forward to the next one!! 🌶️🌶️🌶️ out of five.

Loved It

I loved this book. This is one of the few Tallean romances that I didn't read, so I got to experience it for the first time brought to life by the talented Troy Duran. I loved him in Zeylum and Vore so I was excited for more. I loved the voice he gave to these characters.

This story was fun and interesting from the start. I loved how [sneaky yet smart] Calix was able to slip Emma out of The Meeting Ground and bring her to their ship where she'd be safe. I was fascinated by the mystery of her odd scent that smelled wrong to aliens- while fortunate in her captivity, but not so fortunate in her desire for Calix. I was impressed she was able to lie that she couldn't have children to save herself from being a breeder, even though her birth control was temporary. But I was so sad for how she'd been treated, for the subservience engrained into her everyday life. Calix was honorable, and though he wanted her, would only accept intimacy if she wanted him too not because she felt it was her duty to service him. It was a journey for healing for her as well as falling in love.

My new favorite

I've loved every book I've read by this author and is definitely my new favorite.

A stolen/recued human wirh an odor problem who really really wants a sweet and protective alien to keep her.

His nose says she's not his mate but his heart wants her. Only time has a chance of fixing this..and upgrading some communication skills.

My Mate Stinks

I loved this story, especially listening to Troy Duran narrate. Calix has been looking for his mate and when he sees a female slave during a mission, she smells off but he wants her anyway. Emma has been a Dominion slave for months, instead of fighting back, she has acclimated because she wants to live. When the gorgeous Tallean steals her from her current owner all she can hope for, is to be treated decently. Her birth control shot has given her an odd odor and she has been rejected over and over. This new master is no different regarding her scent, but he treats her much better than anyone since she was abducted from Earth. Will the birth control shot dissipate and Cal recognizes her as his mate? You will have to buy the audio and find out and join Cal & Emma on this adventurous alien romance. I received an ARC for my honest review.

Not His Mate… Or Is She?

This story had a fun twist on the usual “fated mate” theme. Calix is convinced Emma isn’t the one, and yet… he just can’t let her go. Emma’s side of the story is equally compelling—trying to make sense of a situation that’s part rescue, part romantic mess, and part identity crisis.

There’s some serious miscommunication (and missed communication), which sometimes made me feel a bit frustrated, but it also gave the characters room to develop. I enjoyed how it all tied back into the world of the series.

The narration really works here — everything flows nicely and keeps the story alive.
