Publisher's summary

From New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Thea Harrison....

This book contains Dragos Goes to Washington, Pia Does Hollywood, and "Liam Takes Manhattan" (two novellas and a short story in the Elder Races series, previously published separately). All three stories focus on the Cuelebres, the First Family of the Wyr.

Dragos Goes to Washington

Dragos Cuelebre, Lord of the Wyr, needs to throw a party without maiming anyone.

That isn't exactly as easy as it might sound. After the destructive events of the last 18 months, the Elder Races are heading to Washington D.C. to foster peace with humankind. Not known for his diplomacy skills, Dragos must rely on his mate Pia to help navigate a battlefield of words and polite smiles rather than claws. With Dragos's mating instinct riding close to the surface, his temper is more volatile than ever and the threat of violence hovers in the air.

Pia Does Hollywood

After making a diplomatic pact with humankind and the other leaders of the Elder Races, Pia Cuelebre, mate to Dragos Cuelebre, Lord of the Wyr, reluctantly heads to Hollywood to spend a week with the Light Fae Queen, Tatiana, before the busy Masque season hits New York in December. Dragos has never let the lack of an invitation stop him from doing anything he wanted. Unwilling to let his mate make the trip without him, he travels to southern California in secret to be with her. But when an ancient enemy launches a shattering assault against the Light Fae, Dragos and Pia must intercede. The destruction threatens to spread and strike a mortal blow against all of the magically gifted, both human and Elder Race alike.

"Liam Takes Manhattan"

Reeling from a deep loss, the magical prince of the Wyr, Dragos and Pia's son Liam Cuelebre, turns inward and withdrawn as he struggles to come to terms with who he is, along with the challenges that lie before him.

Bitter sweet

I love all these novellas. But I found the last short story to be a bit bitter sweet.

I have a hard time with my 21 year old daughter going to college and spreading her wings by going on road trips and traveling. Liam, regardless of how he has grown and how smart he is, he was still only born within the year. That is not enough time for his parents to even get to know him fully. I can’t imagine any parents reacting the way they did in this. Pia didn’t even get a chance to raise him. I feel sad for them, for getting jibbed out of his childhood.

But it makes for a good story. And that is only the last story, the first two were great. A murder mystery and zombies!! Can’t wait to read more.

A few of my favorites

I really enjoyed all three stories. I have read the other elder races that take place in between as well. Pia, Dragos, and Liam (really any of the wry) are always my favorite stories. I felt Liam's story ended too soon. I realize it's a novella but I found myself wanting a little more. Maybe there's more of Liam in the next books that I haven't read yet. Hoping so.
Thank you Thea Harrison!

A Cuelebre trio of excellance

Dragos and Pia just need to stay at home. Because disaster (not of their making) will always mess up their plans, as evidenced in Dragos goes to Washington and Pia does Hollywood.

For those wanting more a 'little' Liam, you will enjoy Liam takes Manhattan. FYI, this short story should be read/listened to after Shadow's End.

As always, Ms Harrison entertains us with her world of The Elder Races. While Ms Eastlake takes us along for the enjoyable ride.

Love it!

I just love reading her stories about the elder races. She makes it seem so real. These stories surrounding the Cuellebres are so family oriented you have no choice but get involved. I hope there's more coming, can't wait.

Where's the Respect?

The first 2 stories were great. Mostly involved Pia and Dragos and his loss of memory but the last story Liam Takes Manhattan. He has grown into a disrespectful brat. He a teenager who wants to spread his wings but he shows no kind of outward appreciation for his parents until he stomps his feet and holds his breath to get his way. I would've slapped him if he told me he applied to college without my permission and had the nerve to walk out on me and said he was done talking. Oh hell no! That is something you say when you're 25, live on your own and have a job not when you are technically 9 months old and don't have a thing to your name. Pia's constant babying makes it even worse. Because he's physically growing so fast she's trying to be the best girl and a friend he will still cuddle with instead of his mom and we all know how relationships like that turnout. Dragos does better but he's an alpha who wants to please his wife so he goes along. A lot more parental respect would've made this better.

All the books connect to one another so it does make a difference if you don't read them in order for you to fully understand the story but I would have skipped this short story but I suspect the lady at the pound is going to play a large role in the next year of young Liam's life.

All-in-all this was good but the last story really pissed me off.
