Publisher's summary

There is something about Phoenix Wolf that won't stop tempting her. Something magnetic. Something so tempting she can't pull away.

Phoenix Wolf hates being human. If it were up to him, he'd stay in his wolf form in the wilderness for the rest of his life. But it's not up to him. It's up to the forest fire that nearly killed him, forcing him and his siblings to venture into Portland, Oregon for medical attention. While he's healing, his body forced into its human form, Phoenix does everything he can shut out the world. But he can't shut out the hot little redhead who has been assigned to be his mentor while he acclimates to life as a human.

Ida knows better than to ever get involved with a client. Especially one with daggers for eyes and whose jawline could slice a girl in half. But there is something about Phoenix Wolf that won't stop tempting her. Something magnetic. Something so tempting she can't pull away. When a sinister presence threatens to separate them, they have to decide: Will they be together or fall apart?

This is the fourth book in the Forbidden Shifters series, but can also be listened to as a stand-alone. No cliff-hangers. Happily ever after guaranteed. For adults only.

A surprise continution of the great Forbidden Ser

This book is a part of the Forbidden Shifters series and there is a cameo appearance by Jackson and his mate. It was a fine start to the tales of a family of wolf shifters who have come in from the wilderness and taken their human forms. Phoenix was badly burned in a flash fire and his siblings brought him in to civilization to get him medical care. As he is now doing physical therapy and still cannot shift into his wolf, Phoenix and his siblings must try to assimilate into human society for at least as long as he is recovering.

Ida works for an organization that helps shifters with their transition into the human world. She is very proud of what she does for a living and feels she is making a contribution to society. When she is assigned to Phoenix’s case she is apprehensive since she has never worked with a “wild” shifter before. He and his family are starting from scratch as they have had very little contact with humans. Since none of them have skills that will transfer into a human job, they are stuck living in pitiful housing and existing off a subsidy.

There is a greater conspiracy going on in the background that we only get small bits of information about; I am sure this will play a bigger part in the next books. The possible love interests of Phoenix’s siblings are in place and it will be interesting to see how they play out.

I was given a copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.

Great beginnings

These kinds if stories break me. Prejudices and hatred and preying on the lesser. I hate that there is evil lurking around the corner to take advantage of unassuming, trusting and naive souls. Secrets and betrayals at every turn. Phoenix was an amazing character and justice his namesake, he rose from the ashes to flourish. Ida was an unlikely partner, but likeable with her ineptness and awkward ways. Looking forward to more answers and good over coming evil in the end after battles are fought. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a great job bringing the characters and story to life.
