Publisher's summary

Journey into the world of a young man who has known nothing but neglect, abuse, and the brutal realities of survival on the streets. Abel Sims, battered and broken, finds solace at the doorstep of the Phoenix Club – a renowned, high-end gay strip club. In an extraordinary turn of events, Abel is welcomed into this unconventional family, embraced as one of their own.

By the tender age of nineteen, Abel becomes the shining star of the club, enchanting patrons with his innocent face and a graceful body that demands their full attention. But beneath the seductive facade, Abel guards his heart with utmost caution, scarred by the traumas of his past. Trust is a rare commodity for him, only afforded to the tight-knit circle he now calls family.

Just when Abel has resigned himself to a life void of love, an unexpected encounter with a young doctor challenges his emotionally fortified walls. Fighting against the whirlwind of conflicting emotions, Abel resists the allure of love's embrace. Yet, as he finds himself unable to dismiss the growing affection for the doctor, Abel cautiously opens his heart, yearning for the happiness that has long eluded him.

However, his newfound hope crumbles in an instant when a devastating revelation shatters everything he believed in. Abel's worst fears metamorphose into a horrifying reality, tearing his heart asunder and annihilating any remnants of love and trust.

With resilience as his only ally and the Phoenix Club as his unwavering support, watch as Abel battles against his harrowing past and the overwhelming odds stacked against him. Will he find the strength to rebuild his shattered heart? Can he once again believe in the possibility of love, even amidst the darkest of nights?

Emotionally charged and unforgettable, "Abel" is a tale of survival, resilience, and the unbreakable spirit of the human heart. Prepare to be captivated by this poignant story that explores the depths of trauma, the power of love, and the strength found in the most unexpected of places.

Oh boy. Must be high to listen

Okay. *** Trigger warnings: Every casual non exclusive sex scene is unprotected. Out of the many many wierd and awkward scenes, lube is only used once and there is no preparation beforehand. Very disturbing. There is also non consensual sex under the influence of alcohol. The use of Boy/Kid when addressing the main character is awkward, All of the relationships are weird especially where Kaplan is concerned. Overall, a very disjointed and juvenile experience.

Love

I loved the story. So much hurt but so much love too. You just have to love all the characters.
The thing I didn't like was the narrator. He needed more expression to his voice. He also kept repeating lines. Someone else could have done better.
