About this listen

Giving true love a spin...

Michelin Moses is a country music star on the rise. With a hit single under his Texas-sized belt buckle and a sold-out concert tour underway, his childhood dreams of making it big are finally coming true. But there's one thing missing - a promise to his dying mother that he'd find it - him - when the time was right. With a little luck, he won't have to wait too long....

Lucky Ramirez is a hunky boy toy who dances at The Broom Closet, one of West Hollywood's hottest gay bars. He loves what he does, and he's good at it - almost as good as he is at playing dumb when he spots Michelin Moses at the bar. What happens next is off the charts - and keeps Michelin coming back for more. He's just not sure it's the right move for his career. But if Lucky gets his way, Michelin will get Lucky - and no matter how the media spins it, neither of them will be faking it....

Contains mature themes.

A real miss,

This was my fourth read of the Author’s, There was great promise in the storyline. I was lost by the attempted voice characterizations, of “ lucky” and “M” neither promoted the character, “ M “ was this Nick Nolte whiskey , sad, grumpy voice, and “Lucky” went from a whispered Latin to a full throated Eastern European, neither fit the character in my mind. The narrators spoken voice is superb? I wish I could have stayed with it..

It was a Fine Story But I Expected More

I did like this story, Lucky was a precious cinnamon roll even though he was a bit too stubborn and prideful at times. Mitchell took me longer to warm up to, he was prideful as well in a different way but also more frustrating because he seemed to let life live him rather than living his own life, and just let his manager run his life who although bossy with him was completely apathetic when it came to actually making moves in what was supposed to be her job. Her whole thing was like to sit and wait rather than do anything, which meant Mitchell took that route too. It was like he was sitting in the middle of pulling out into the street as traffic flowed around him but wouldn’t turn left or right, just sitting in his car and hoping no one would end up hitting him but sat there oblivious. It was uber annoying and sometimes dragged the story on cause there was no movement for the character, so no movement in the story. Also I didn’t love the narrator, the way he read the story part was fine but the accents with the characters for the dialogue was a bit jarring. Usually when I listen to these narrations, the whole chapter is read in the voice of the character’s POV it is from except when someone else is speaking. This wasn’t and so at some times his regular narrator voice would read the dialogue, and it would throw me off. The premise was good though and there were quite a few nice moments between the characters but this book just didn’t wow me, and unfortunately the connection I think the characters were supposed to have just didn’t feel palpable as a listener. It was just a fine story with fine narration.
