scrumptious!

I love these books, and it's so wonderful to have all 6 of the first books available in audio for 1 credit!! The author has a really good grasp of small town life and the characters who live there, plus the ability to keep a reader riveted on the story, because of the dangers the characters get into, whether personal, or community, or because of the setting--which is a fun small town (just the right size for getting lost in the pages). I highly recommend these books, and this author!

Worth the credit

I really enjoyed this book set. It was well worth the credit. I like that all of the stories were about the same family so you got to hear about the previous characters. There were times when I laughed out loud and times that I was near tears. The narrator was good and I could tell which character was speaking.

Fun, Steamy, Sweet, Entertaining shifter boxset!

I listened to this story in the Bearpaw Ridge Firefighters Boxset 1 on Audible. The set has books 1 Thru 6 in this series.

Narrator is doing good. She sounds clear and she has some different voices for the different characters. Quality performance that I enjoyed listening to. She gave a great performance for all 6 books.

I’ll go ahead and put my reviews for each book. The writing was great, but reading each story right after the other, I did notice a lot of similarities between the basics of the story and the events in each book. Still enjoyed the majority of the books and the shifter world the author created. Overall, a wonderful series!

Book 1 - Heat - 5 stars

Sweet and steamy shifter romance with some suspense. Actually, there’s a lot of steam going on between Dane and Annabeth! Dane is a bear shifter, who meets new bakery owner Annabeth and knows instantly she’s his mate. Unfortunately, she’s human and Dane has had some past issues with telling people about being a shifter, so he’s understandably wary of telling Annabeth. Annabeth was in a verbally abusive relationship that she stayed in way too long because of low self-esteem. She’s finally realizing she needs to start a new, so at the urging of a friend, she moves far away from her ex. Unfortunately, the ex isn’t giving up so easy.

Loved the connection between Annabeth and Dane. So much passion and so sweet! Love a good protective guy too! He’s also a firefighter, so he’s saving lives. I liked how the author worked in the firefighter aspect into the story. Also, enjoyed the setting being a shifter town and the suspense with the ex.

A fun, entertaining story with lots of hot moments! Looking forward to the next book!

Book 2 - Smolder - 4 stars

Love the bear shifter aspect and the romance is steamy. There’s some good suspense and action just like in the first book, so that’s all entertaining and fun. In this book, Caitlyn is a reporter for a trashy tabloid that reports on things like Bigfoot and Loch Ness, she’s sent to Bearpaw Ridge to investigate if shifters exist. I wasn’t really a fan of that angle. When she arrives, she meets bear shifter, Mark, and these two are hot for each other. Mark knows she is his mate, but he doesn’t know if he can trust her not to break the story about the existence of shifters. There’s also some dangerous shifters after her because she’s getting too close to finding out about shifters. Mark and Caitlyn have some hot moments, but I didn’t feel a strong connection between them. It just felt like lust; their connection lacks emotional depth. I loved the connection between Dane and Annabeth from the first book, so I was a bit disappointed with Mark and Caitlyn. The story is written well and I was entertained the whole time, so I still enjoyed the story. I’m not really looking forward to the next book because I’m not a fan of Evan, but since I already have the book in this Boxset, I’m going to go ahead and read it.

Book 3 - Ignite - 3 stars

Still loving the bear shifter aspect and the fun suspense of this series. I also loved that Steffi was a tough lady. I just did not like Evan. In this book, Steffi is caring for her niece when her sister and her sister’s husband go missing, so Steffi needs to care for the baby longer than expected. Which would be fine, but there’s some shady people following Steffi and the baby around. Plus, the baby shifts into a bear cub; Steffi doesn’t know about shifters, so she is definitely surprised when that happens. When she gets a call from Steffi’s sister’s husband’s family in Bearpaw Ridge, she decides it’s a good time to go for a visit. Unfortunately, the danger follows, so luckily Evan is there to help her out. I like how he’s supportive towards Steffi, but Evan is the manwhore type; he’s supposed to be charming and fun, but he came across as slimy to me.

Spoilers for the romance aspect coming up!

He knows Steffi is his mate, but he continues to try with some other woman; a friends with benefits thing, but he stays the night over at her house and they’ve been together a lot, so that seems pretty serious to me. Plus, this other woman wants more with him. He kisses this other woman a couple times after he meets the main love interest too, and continues to stay over at her house after they are no longer sleeping together; yes, it’s in her guest bedroom, but that is just too weird. Especially, since he knows she wants more of a relationship. Even after they aren’t together anymore and he’s with Steffi, this other woman checks out his naked body when he shifts. Soooo awkward! Then the moron wonders why Steffi doesn’t want to date him, and acts like Steffi is the moronic one for thinking he wasn’t available. Unfortunately, Steffi gives in and agrees to a no strings sex romp with Evan; it all felt like she was just so grateful that someone as hot as Evan would want a chubby girl like her. It just comes across as desperate and like she doesn’t know her worth. So, I just didn’t feel the romance in this book; it all felt very unromantic. It felt like he really never wanted to be mated and was just forced into it. Speaking of mate bonding without knowing it. How is it that shifters have been around for a long time and no one mentioned that the mate bond is sealed by being intimate with your mate? Even his brothers knew and never mentioned it.

End of spoilers!

The writing is still good and the story is entertaining, so I still went 3 stars even though the romance wasn’t my thing. I’m still looking forward to the next book in this series.

Book 4 - Flame - 5 stars

Thor and Cassie

Loved the amnesia scenario in this one! Thor is a smokejumper, who ends up crashing into Cassie’s car from the sky. He’s severely injured and has amnesia, but Cassie, a saber tooth shifter, knows Thor is a shifter and can’t be taken to a human hospital. She ends up helping him out until they learn more about him and find the proper help. Unfortunately, Cassie ran away from a pride that was abusive to her, so there’s some dangerous shifters looking for her. I don’t like that she doesn’t tell Thor how much danger she’s in; especially since he’s getting brought into it. Also, why in the heck doesn’t she carry any weapons!? The suspense was great with this situation though, and made for an entertaining read. Plus, it helps seal the bond between Cassie and Thor. These two feel a romantic connection right away and they quickly start acting on, but not everyone is on board about them being together. They decide that it’s a good idea to go to Thor’s hometown, Bearpaw Ridge, when the bad shifters after Cassie get closer. Thor’s mom and his brothers had some bad experiences with Saber tooth shifters, so they aren’t exactly welcoming. I’m tired of Thor’s mom, Elle, being so judgmental; every book she has some issues with her sons mating people that aren’t bear shifters. It’s so small minded! Thor is awesome with how supportive he is though! Loved Thor! He’s a great guy. Thor and Cassie have some good passion, and their connection is so sweet. They are definitely one of my fav couples in this series so far. Them and Dane and Annabeth from the first book are my favs.

Good writing, good story. Very entertaining!

Book 5 - Burn - 3 stars

So, I wasn’t really excited to read this one because I haven’t liked Elle in any of the previous books. She’s too judgmental and very rude to all of her sons mates. As for Justin, he didn’t do right by his daughter, Cassie. He could’ve at least left the pride that was abusive towards his daughter, but he just lets her go on the run alone and stay with the pride. Plus, there’s the whole picturing a grandma having sex thing that just didn’t appeal to me. With that being said, they do have a sweet romance and the writing is still good. The author has created an entertaining series with some fun scenarios. Justin and Elle do improve some as the story goes on; mostly Justin, so I did enjoy this quick read with them. It was also fun that they met at Thor and Cassie’s wedding. I’m going with a 3 rating because I didn’t quite enjoy the story like I did other books in this series I gave a 4 rating to.

Book 6 - Ash - 4 stars

Wasn’t a huge fan of the premise on this one; Nika runs away from her mate, Ash, because her parents threatened him, but when she finds out she’s pregnant, she goes to warn Ash, but still doesn’t plan to stay with him. I did not like that she waited so long into her pregnancy to contact Ash; maybe she would’ve never told him if her parents weren’t horrible. Obviously, Ash was so heartbroken when Nika did this, and he isn’t going to let her run off on her own again. Nika didn’t even try talking to Ash before running off originally and broke up with him in a very mean way, so I wasn’t a fan in the beginning. Also, her continuously thinking it’s a better idea to go on the run alone and 7 months pregnant than staying on a ranch with multiple shifters and people for protection had me questioning her intelligence; especially since she’s studying to be a doctor. Maybe her wanting to leave had to do with how much of a jerk Ash’s mom, Elle, continues to be to all of her sons mate when she first meets them. Yes, Nika was a moron to leave her mate, but she’s pregnant and needs help; not an attitude. I also didn’t like how Nika continues to call her parents Momma and Papa even though they did horrible things; Nika is way too forgiving at times. With all that being said, the story is still entertaining and I love the shifter aspect. Ash was wonderful; a total sweetheart. They do have some good passion too, but I do wish the intimate scenes weren’t all crammed together. Still some hot times though. The writing is good too, and I love seeing the previous characters in this series all interacting.

Love those Firefighters

This set consists of all those delicious Swanson brothers and the women they meet who become their mates. Along the way there is kidnapping, shifting, fighting, descriptive love making and violence. Though always a happy ending.
