Publisher's summary

Lina's trendy bakery in Tulsa is proving to be less than lucrative, and she must come up with a plan. When she stumbles upon an Italian goddess cookbook, Lina can't help but think she's found the answer to her problem - even if it means invoking a goddess to save her business.

Soon enough Lina finds herself face-to-face with Demeter, who has a plan of her own. She proposes that Lina exchange souls with Persephone, the goddess of spring, who will breathe new life into the bakery. In return Lina must set order to the Underworld.

Before all this, Lina's problems mostly involved sourdough and second dates. Now that she embodies the enchanting Persephone, Lina has weightier things on her mind - like the formidable task of bringing spring to a world of spirits. But when the handsome, brooding Hades kindles a spark in her heart, Lina wonders if this lord of the underworld might be the man of her dreams.

absolutely loved it

this second book held all the wonder, love, wit and even sorrow of the first. The narrator once again brought the characters to life. I can't wait for the next one.

if you can get past the narrator...

it is a lovely story with great pacing. I love P.C. Cast and the pictures she paints. my only issue is the narrator but luckily the story kept me hooked.

Better read than the first

I love these books, the first two in particular, as they are all well written and bring a new perspective to the myths within their pages. I will admit that trying to listen to the first book was lamentable and I could not even get past the first chapter and goddess knows I tried just skipping ahead, but that was awful too. This book (and hopefully the rest of them) the narrator seems to have found her flow a lot better, and I was able to get through the slightly less awkward narration and enjoy my favorite book in of the series. Saying that, be prepared for slightly weird sentence inflection and some awkward name pronunciations. I seriously don’t remember how many times I had to mentally correct her on the most basic of Greek myth names, but alas she wasn’t the only one so I think I’ve been desensitized to it; you might not be. You’ve been warned. Still, if I was able to listen through it it was definitely tolerable, I really try not waste my time on bad narrations, no matter how much I love the book. Hope that helps and I hope you can enjoy!

Good story. Bad narration

The narrator made all Lina's sentences sound like questions. Always a lilt at the end. It bothered me so much , I had to stop listening for a while.

good book

this book was pretty good. love the details the Arthur came up with . felt like I was able to see it all. and a very good take for the king of the underworld. i also like how each book so far seems to get all tied up at the end. each Being a stand alone book. i don't think that I've ever heard him painted so nicely . well done

Love this series

I laughed out loud and even teared up a few times with this book. I loved the first one and I definitely loved this one. It's unique and even though a happy ending seems out of reach it does come through and in the most satisfying way. Hades is wonderfully written character as is of course the heroine. It's written so well you ache when the characters do and enjoy their happiness as well.
I can't say enough about this book. The stories are wholly their own and do not run one off the other so read them however you choose.
I can't wait for the next book!
