Publisher's summary

Ian and Braden Thomas return to the United States to extract Katie Buchanan, the sister of the teammate who betrayed them. She could very well be the key to taking down the man responsible for turning Ian and Braden into unstable cat shifters. Unfortunately, they're not the only ones after Katie. Katie has no intention of going quietly or of offering her trust on a silver platter. She's got troubles of her own that don't include two pain-in-the-ass men who claim her dead brother sent them. She's too busy trying to stay one step ahead of Ricardo de la Cruz, the brother of a man she killed. As the bodies pile up, Ian and Braden are only sure of one thing: Katie makes them crazy. Something about her calls to their inner predator. They both want her, but she's made a practice of making bad decisions and trusting the wrong men. And by the time she realizes that she can trust these two warriors, it might just be too late.

Two very Hot Panther Shifters - HELL YES !

Any additional comments?

This second book in this gripping series tells the story of Katie Ian and Braden. Ian and Braden are two Very Delicious Panther Shape shifter brothers. Unlike Eli and Gabe (from the first book Into the Mist) Ian and Braden are not stable shifters and often have to be sedated when a shift comes upon them. The Falcon Mercenary group joined with Eli's team of shifters to track down Esteban who is the totally Bonkers scientist who messed with their genes in the first place. When Gabe dies he begs Ian and Braden to find his little sister Katie (whom he kept hidden from everyone) because Esteban wants Katie for his own sick experiments. Esteban figures that if Gabe was stable then Katie as his genetic sister would have a greater chance to be stable as well, plus she's a female with viable eggs - perfect for breading.. This is a very Hot and Steamy book. The sex is not as gently as some may like but I enjoyed every descriptive bit of it - two spunky shifters makes for twice the enjoyment :)

Story is great, narrator's reading voice is not

What did you love best about Into the Lair?

I really enjoy Maya Banks books, story line is great and sexy. I read the book years ago and bought the audiobook for that reason.

How could the performance have been better?

Narrator tries too hard to have a smokey, breathy voice for reading, the voice used to speak charaters lines wasn't that bad. The reading voice was too distracting for me to finish listening to the book. That alone makes me want to return the book for a refund.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Unfortunately, no, The narrator's reading voice was hard to bear.

Great Series!! Really Want MORE!!!!!!!!!

Into the Lair is the 2nd installment of Maya Banks' paranormal Falcon Mercenary Group series. The first was Into the Mist and I would definitely recommend reading them in order. This book centers on the two unstable shape shifting brothers Ian and Braden. Unlike Eli and Gabe, Ian and Braden are not stable shifters and often have to be sedated like Tyana's brother, every time a shift comes upon them.

The Falcon Mercenary group joined with Eli's team of shifters to track down Esteban who was the mad scientist who messed with their genes in the first place. When Gabe (a member of Eli's team) dies he begs Ian and Braden to find his little sister Katie (whom he kept hidden from everyone) because Esteban wants Katie for his own experiments. Esteban figures that if Gabe was stable then Katie as his genetic sister would have a greater chance to be stable as well, add to that that she's a female with viable eggs and you have one sick man chasing after godlike dreams.

While setting up Katie as bait (with out her knowledge of course, men are so dumb) Ian and Braden find themselves both falling for her. It seems as if their panther and jaguar are falling for her as well. The only thing Katie keeps close to her heart is what Gabe taught her... to never trust anyone. This makes for an uneasy threesome!

Out of 10 dirty erotic points, this one hits at a 7 or 8. The explicit scenes are more graphic and dirtier then Into the Mist. Plus there's two of them! Twice as much... fun! So be aware of that when delving into this book. Keep in mind though that Maya Banks is a clever author and never lets the sex get out of hand. The plot is always in the forefront of the novel and the characters make the sex scenes not the other way around!

Some listeners did not like the narration but I found Rebecca Estrella did a good job with the delivery of the story.

I wish Maya Banks would continue with the series there is still lots of opportunities to explore.

"Cougar or Panther?"

Where does Into the Lair rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It is in the top 5 of Maya Banks books I have had the op to listened . Better than book 1! I think it was because the 2 brothers had a close relationship. The Armstrong series are great.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Braden had a good sense of humor. Humor is always good. Braden is also ultra hot and sexy dominant in the bedroom so beware! this character kept the book moving along and will not disappoint.

What three words best describe Rebecca Estrella’s voice?

Her pace could be a bit less breathy in the beginning, but I felt she did a good job with our heroes right from the start. She made them a yummy as can be. She would be great if she kept up a fast voice pace all through the listen. She does the erotic Lorelei James cowboy McKay series...pretty hot.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

yup, I did. In fact I listened to this before I have attempted #1.

Any additional comments?

ms banks is not a consistent writer for me so I have to really watch what I buy from her. The M.B. series with Caroline Winbour, was hot, but she ruined the listens for me.

AN EXCITING MÉNAGE......... BUT 2 WARNINGS

So, the story continues from book 1 as unstable shifters, 2 hot Mercanary brothers Ian and Braden, are sent on a babysitting/entrapment mission that backfires on them in more ways than one.

In this enjoyable, action-packed and well written listen the characters from book 1 get seemlessly intertwined in this exciting, fun, V.Hot ROUGH sex (M/F/M) listen (so warning No.1) as the heroine Kate must trust no-one, which includes the 2 sexy hot brothers, and there's good reason as pain, heartache, betrayal, kidnapping and murder haunt her and there's worse to come.... the villains wants her -1 wants her dead and the other wants her alive.

Worth a credit? Yes, it would have been but for 2 reasons - my 'under $10 rule applied and (warning No. 2) I CANNOT see any further books listed in this series (which she wrote in 2009) on MB's website so I can only assume she gave up on this series which is a real shame as it had a lot of potential and could have gone a lot lot further.

Who knows she may return to this series but because of this I would say, although it was exciting and entertaining, it's ultimately heading nowhere, whereas other brilliant series she has written continue. So, unfortunately for this reason I'm going to have to say if you're prepared for a 2 book series then YES go ahead but I sadly it's left me feeling a bit cheated as I invested more than just money into this series, there were other characters who's lives needed saving.

Big Kitties

Pretty good story. I'm not really into paranormal, but I enjoyed this one. I've also come to realize I'm not a big fan
of threesome s in the bedroom so that is why I gave 4 stars.

Monotone supreme

The narrator was an amazing soporific.
Her lack of excitement and monotone voice turned the book in to a dull experience.

Narrator put me to sleep

Would you listen to Into the Lair again? Why?

No - The slow monotone of the narrator's voice was difficult to listen to.

What other book might you compare Into the Lair to and why?

none

What three words best describe Rebecca Estrella’s performance?

monotone and boring

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The relationship between brother and sister.

Any additional comments?

If Rebecca Estrella is the narrator for book 3 in the series, I'll buy the electronic version.

Why wasn’t the series finished?

I was really starting to get into this series and BAM! The author hasn’t written anymore books, in this series. I emailed the author and maybe if more readers emailed MB stating their desire for the series to continue, she might write more books for this series.
If you enjoyed, The Ghostwalker series by C.Feehan, you’ll enjoy the two books available, in this series.
