DUET NARRATION WITH A BONUS CHAPTER!

SLEEPING BEAUTY x HADES & PERSEPHONE

Tarian Hadez—thirty-three, real estate mogul, mob lord, most eligible bachelor in New England, god. The god-part is an exaggeration. After all, if true deities existed, then the world would be a magical place, and it's really not. At least, my world isn't.

Calanthe Bloom. That's me. Twenty-four, college graduate drowning in debt, true crime addict, florist by default, single by design. Although not living my best life, I'm enthusiastically pursuing it. Especially, in my dreams, which, since a recent flower-delivery snafu, all feature none other than lethally private Tarian.

Oh, the things he does to me when I sleep.

Wickedly surreal.

Except . . . are they?

Enter a world of gods and monsters where dreams are made of flesh. My Dark Beast is a paranormal romance standalone brimming with spice and intrigue.

Content warning: strong language, sexually explicit scenes, graphic violence, Alzheimer's, alcohol drinking, abduction of an adult, addiction to "magical" drugs (off page), death of a loved one (off page).

Not A True Duet, A Bit Too Long, But I Liked This!

A bit of false advertising when saying this is a duet but I guess you could say it's A partial duet? Only Zachary Johnson voiced Tarian and only Blair Thatcher voiced Calanthe but all the other male and female characters were fair game; depending on whose POV the chapter was. Not ideal, but I would take a partial duet any time before duel style. Olivia Wildenstein is new to me and wow...she spun a really good, really detailed unforgettable yarn. Unfortunately, I feel that it was a tad overlong, there were times where the pacing slowed down and seemed to lag a bit so it took away from the momentum of the story. But still, at the end of the day I truly enjoyed this reimagining of Hades and Persephone / Sleeping Beauty.

4 starz - worthy of a repeat listen

Nice

The characters were really well written.
The romance made me blush and kicked my feet like a school girl.
But I did not like the mystery part of it, I got confused a couple of times because of all the names. But yet again, I don’t like mysteries in general so I might just be biased.

Beauty and the beast but faeish and dream world

Loved this take on the classic fairytale. Only issue I had was her friends character arc and the male narrator wasn’t what I envisioned for this character

Loved both the book and the audiobook!

I loved the book and was so happy with how the audiobook narrators’ performances truly brought the story to life. The icing on the cake was that the audiobook included the Bonus Chapter that was not included in the main book. I buy a lot of audiobooks and it’s frustrating when authors offer “bonus content” to sign up for their mailing lists because most times, that content is not included in the audiobook. In the case of this audiobook, the bonus content is included!!

Calamity

My Dark Beast-Olivia Wildenstein
Narrated by Blair Thatcher and Zachary Johnson

Narration 🎧🎧🎧🎧

This book was wild! I didn’t know how Olivia was going to cross a Hades/Persephone with Sleeping Beauty, but I’ll be damned…she did. Her world building is phenomenal. The mains get stuck in dreamland for a while and each time you go into a new dream it’s like a whole new world and the descriptions are incredible. And the story telling is just so so good. It is lengthy but honestly I don’t know what could have been eliminated. This was so good. Now I feel like I need to go back and reread it and I’ll probably pick up on so many things I missed the first time through.

The narration was so good. This is my first by these two narrators and I thought they did a stunning job. The narration style was interesting because it wasn’t completely in duet or completely in dual but it was like a mix of both.

I am already a huge fan of Olivia so when I saw thid audiobook I jumped at the chance and am thrilled that I did.

The narration was amazing! It's a combo style of duet and dual. Blair was phenomenal at changing her tone to match different characters. Zachary was such a perfect Tarian, his timbre made me melt anytime he spoke. They both made the spicy scenes jaw droppingly good.

The story really captivated me and I didn't want to stop listening. The dreamsharing setting was intriguing and I enjoyed how it played out. As always, I love Olivia's writing style and how she weaves these incredible tales. There are always comedic elements to break up the tension sometimes from the sassy FMC Calanthe. My favorite chapters were in Tarian's POV because how he thought and spoke just had me swooning.

Olivia knows how to write spice🔥Even though the scenes were brief, and they often got interrupted, the quality and steam factor were off the charts.

The world was one we already knew with a twist of immortal gods living in it as mafia-inspired families. The story had incredible mystery elements that kept me guessing. At times the family felt like they were on a soap opera and I ate it up and asked for more. The secrets and twists were nonstop! My mouth was agape the entire last third of the book as all the mysteries were revealed. I also wasn't sure that things were going to end well. Luckily for everyone, this book had a fabulous comeuppance with a perfect HEA.

Quasi duet narration

I enjoyed the voice actors very much. The narration was duet… but only for the male main character and the female main character. The female voice actor did both male and female voices for other characters.

Unique Urban Fantasy 🖤

My Dark Beast was perfection! A unique blend of mob vibes with paranormal romance, all in current times (I’m so sick of kingdoms and crowns anyway).
I couldn’t stop listening and kept trying to guess who abducted Tarian, while at the same time enjoyed their dream escapades so much.
I also love the fact that it’s a standalone, and the duet narration was a plus!
