Publisher's summary

A debt repaid...in the form of her surrender.

Rich and powerful, Maddux Wilder has built his empire with one thought in mind...exacting revenge against the man who killed his parents. But he never planned for his enemy’s daughter, Arabella Cole, to offer herself in exchange for her father’s debt. Innocent and captivating, Maddux can’t resist her allure, or the lust she stirs within him.

When Arabella sacrifices her life to save her father’s, she does so with the intention of hating the man who now owns her. But beneath Maddux’s gruff, boorish exterior she discovers a compelling man. One who makes her burn with need and awakens deep, forbidden desires she can’t deny. Soon she’s surrendering more than just her body to Maddux.

What starts as an act of vengeance becomes something far more consuming. Can this beauty tame the beast, or will revenge cost them both everything that matters most?

Sinful Surrender is a seductive and modern take on Beauty and the Beast.

Off to a great start in the new series

Lia Langola is a new narrator to me although I am familiar with Erika Wilde. I enjoyed this presentation and her voice was easy to listen to.

Where do I start? Total Surrender is the first book in Erika Wilde's latest series and if this book is anything to go by, she has another winning series on her hands.

Vengeance, that is what Maddux Wilder and his siblings are out for, determined to destroy the man they hold responsible for their parents death, Theodore Cole.

His daughter, Arabella is going to be the one to pay though. I loved Arabella, she is feisty, sassy and smart.

Maddux is totally focused on the end goal and yet it appears that despite himself, Arabella is going to get to him.

What happens when Arabella succumbs to the dark and deep desires that Maddux evokes in her? Will he destroy her or will love triumph?

I was absolutely captivated by the story Erika Wilde wove and there was nothing that I didn’t like about this story.

It's a complete fairy tale alright...

First and foremost, I had the hardest time with the narrator's voice. She was dull, and she didn't capture the spirit or gruffness of either of the two main characters. I had to fast forward the speed of playback in order to tolerate the narration throughout the book.

The book read exactly like a fairytale. I thought it'd be a loose interpretation of the "dirty sexy fairy tales" description, but no, it was right on track. Arabella is a very naive young woman who "just wants to go to the ball" when she meets Maddux, the "beast" who wants to avenge his parent's death. He's mean to her, but she's just as sweet and charming as ever.

Are her actions throughout the story at all believable? No. Is she relatable? Not really. But because the book was short, I continued through to the end. I don't think this book was a waste of time to read, but I also wouldn't recommend it.
