Publisher's summary

Billionaire Max Hamilton thought he was finally starting to find contentment, more than two years after losing his wife Mia in a tragic drowning accident. He'd been reunited with a sister he hadn't realized existed. Finally he had family again, a reprieve from the pain and loneliness that had haunted him since his devastating loss. Yeah...he was as happy as a man could be, considering he had lost the other half of his soul and most of his heart when fate had torn his wife away from him. Or so he believed...until the day he rescued a mysterious woman in the park, a female who somehow had managed to reignite a part of him that he thought was long dead. Suddenly, Max's protective, dominant, possessive male instincts flared to life, leaving him at a loss as to how lightning could possibly strike twice in one lifetime. Is he truly being given another chance at real happiness, or would it be dangled in front of him, only to be taken away once again?

Awesome Read

I read this book a few years ago and started the series again with the audio to read along. The story is engaging with a HEA. The narrator brings the characters to life. Love it.

As usual Excellent

J. S. Scott sure knows how to write a romance novel. This one is no exception. However, this one starts out way different from all the rest. Just when you think Max's life is going to end, after his wife's death, a flicker of hope emerges. You just can't keep a rich hunk like him down. Ms. Scott brings all of your emotions to the surface. You laugh, cry, and even get a little mad. The narrator does a great job, but sometimes I feel she is rushed. I'm just delightfully working my way through the family tree of each of these clans.

Max & Mia’s Heartbreaking Second Chance Story!

Max Hamilton, thirty-three, is still not ready to move on two and a half years after his wife presumably drowned at sea. He had found her things on the beach when he returned home one day. After a week of searching the police had only one theory besides the obvious drowning: that Max was behind her disappearance. That went nowhere, of course. Today, she is still officially missing, though she is presumed dead by all. But Max’s love for Mia remains strong, and the guilt that he feels each day for not loving her well enough during their two years of marriage consumes him. He is empty. Adopted and raised by a wealthy couple, Max was taught to be a Hamilton. Anal, meticulous, stuffy, aloof, detached, logical … he lived robotically. He tried to love Mia with measured tenderness, as his father had loved his mother. But he came alive around Mia. It had been love at first sight. Yet he knew the passion he felt for her to be irrational and wrong, so he often neglected her, making excuses to leave in order to rein in the out of control feelings she triggered in him. She had been the love of his life, and he had failed her. But sometimes other forces are at play, or so it seems when he joins his friends for a picnic in the park. He, Simon and Kara, Sam and Maddie – his newly discovered long-lost sister – and Mia’s brother Kade are gathered together when he spots a woman who doesn’t look much like Mia, but he instantly recognizes her as his wife. And he knows this time he will love her like she deserves and never let her go.

Mia Hamilton, twenty-nine, cannot remember what had happened to her when she awakes in a Tampa hospital surrounded by her husband, friends, and family. Apparently she has been missing for years, but she cannot remember anything beyond a few weeks prior to her disappearance. She has no doubt about her love for Max. She had always felt more deeply for him than he ever had for her, though she was certain of his love. They understood that he grounded her and she brought joy to their marriage. And though she tried to change herself to please him, they had a good marriage. She was a jewelry designer, a passion that had been inspired by her grandmother. And he had political and business aspirations. But the Max that she wakes up to is different somehow. More feeling, more raw. And more passionate. Dominant. Their reunion is wonderful, bringing them closer than ever. Their relationship deepens as they open up to one another like never before, but a cloud of uncertainty remains until her memory is recovered. She has a recurring thought that concerns her. She feels like she is two women in one body. She is not certain who she really is, so how can she expect to Max to really know her? How can Max love her if he doesn’t know who she really is? And those secrets that she tried to bury are a threat to everything that Max believes about her.

Max and Mia’s story evokes a myriad of feelings. The gut-wrenching pain that Max feels at his wife’s disappearance is devastating, and the devotion he has for her is admirable. Mia’s love for Max is selfless, even if she had been a little immature. They both had some growing up and healing to do, and their separation gives them the space to reflect and learn. Once reunited, their love has the opportunity to mature and deepen as well. *Spoilers* There are a few things that are difficult to accept, although they are explained. Two characters conspire for two and one half years, and the action comes across as unnecessarily cruel. Certainly the information could have be shared at some point. Additionally, when circumstances change and Mia comes home, it seems impossible that the information she needed was withheld from her and others. Finally, it is unclear how their tattoos escape notice in Tampa. Nevertheless, Max’s character is compelling and his story is heartbreaking. Seeing Max get his happy ending – the second chance that he never thought he would have – is very gratifying. The epilogue points to Kade’s story.

Max and Mia’s heartbreaking second chance story gives Max the happy ending he deserves. The story is nicely written and plot-driven. The plot is somewhat complex, addressing such issues as abuse and honesty. The characters a nicely developed given the length. The story is written in third person. The POV alternates between Max and Mia, with one chapter in Kade’s POV. I rate this book four stars.

As for the Audio: it is well-performed and consistent with the book.

If you have to marry a billionaire

Max is the best choice by far.

This is the third installment in the series and is by far the best. There is a good plot line and the characters of Max and Mia are flawed but likeable.

Great Book

Where does The Billionaire's Salvation rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

One of the best

Who was your favorite character and why?

I loved Max because he had so much love for Mia even when all seemed lost.

Any additional comments?

The Billionaire's Salvation by J.S Scott was a great book. I absolutely loved Max and Mia's story. It's a story of true love and how love conquers all. Max never believed that Mia was dead when she went missing. Although everything seemed to be against them there was always hope for them. I loved this addition to the Billionaire's Obsession series and can't wait to read more by J.S. Scott.
