About this listen

In a world where Fae and Vampire will forever be at odds, a Vampire wins the crown, ruling the Fae Realm for the first time in history.

After the execution of the Succubus who attempted to murder the King, her Incubus vows to avenge her, putting a devious plot into action. Breaking Fae law, he creates what he thinks will be the most powerful half-breed known to the Realm, placing him as a pawn to make the King feel the pain of death while living.

The Incubus shows patience, waiting for the right moment to strike.

Upon his half-breed son’s 18th year, he conjures images full of romanticized thoughts and desires that pushes his son and the King together, creating a fiery love affair neither could have imagined.

Will the Incubus avenge his love?

Will the plot bring the King a fate worse than death?

Will the King and his male lover survive?

Hot Paranormal!

I’ve been a fan of Rissa’s since I read her first book, Broken Dreams and I was THRILLED to find out she was adapting her Cordivae Guard series for audio.

Rissa leads you by the hand as Monty and Zach navigate the perious twists and turns of their relationship, gleefully pulling you from one scene to the next. Interwoven story lines and relationships makes this story come to rich life and the sex scenes leaving the listener reaching for a fan and a tall glass of ice water!

Keval Shah is a new to me narrator and I found him to be a perfect fit for this story and can’t wait to hear him perform the rest!

I cannot recommend this author any higher! Take a chance! You’ll be glad you did!

Wow!

4.5 stars! Seriously, I'm a HUGE fan of this author's work (Shattered Lives), but by the time I went down the audiobook rabbithole, her work got left behind. The first story in this new-to-me series is AWESOME! It's breathtakingly frank and wickedly erotic. I had a hard time, in the first half of the book, trying to pick a side. By the end of this first book, I'm desperately hoping for a happy ending of the The author was masterful in her storytelling, and I only took off half a star for narration. The narrator was really good, but his pronunciation of epitome threw on my listening brakes, hard. Because I am American, and the voice actor is British, I don't know if they pronounce it differently over there, but I was ridiculed for using that word aloud, after only ever seeing it written. If the Brits really do pronounce it phonetically, then I rescind the half star and give it a full five. Beautiful and poignant, and I'm sad I've missed out on it for so long.

Fantasy erotica? Oh, wow!

Vampires, fae, and demons! This is my kind of good time. It never occurred to me to consider this an erotica 'format'! I'm glad I asked to review this work by Rissa Blakeley! She has an incredible premise for her series--in a world where Fae and Vampires are against one another, a vampire is awarded the crown to rule the realm! Wow! She introduces readers to a concept most folks would never consider--an incubus who truly loves a succubus! Before I could wrap my mind around such a novel and wonderful concept, the succubus is executed for attempting to kill the king, and the incubus plots a plan to avenge his lover. He fathers a half-breed son and uses dream imagery to forge a romance of his son to the very king that executed his succubus! Dang, folks! This was some kind of hot and rather well thought out. Ms. Blakeley shores up a definite win by having Keval Shah narrate this work. His accent is delightful and he is fully on board with delivering a wonderful performance for the book. It is my sincerest hope that the writer continues to use him for the other books in the series. Wow, just fricking wow!

Story was getting good but narrator was awful!

I never really write reviews but I felt I had to on this one. I was getting into the story without problem but I felt I wasted my money because of the narrator. It was too slow and too drawn out when it didn't need to be. I just couldn't keep listening after about 30 minutes of it. I feel had there been a different narrator I would have been able to get into the book. Sorry but I will not be listening to the rest of this one and will not listen to the rest of the series.
