Publisher's summary

Forensic accountant Annie Griffin has always suspected she's a bit jinxed, so when she finds herself 35, single, temporarily homeless, and pregnant by a gigolo, her fears are confirmed.

Adrenaline junkie and professional stuntman Max Bowen needs a housesitter to watch after his pets while he's out of town. Annie needs a place to stay. Standard quid pro quo. No biggie. She can handle that, whatever hellhounds he owns - until Max, the most sought-after bachelor in the county, comes back ahead of schedule, and she ends up being roommates with a 27-year-old sex god who turns out to be so much more than what she expected.

Max might have had the attention span of a hummingbird on crack when it comes to women, but that was before Annie. Her quirkiness and sweet contradictions soon captivate him - not that she's inclined to give him the time of the day. With his reputation preceding him, he knows the odds are stacked against him, but he will do his best to prove to her that he's what she needs, stuck-up socialite grandmothers, doomsday preppers, groupies, pregnancy hormones, and repentant biological dads be damned.

Ok

I wasn’t a fan of how Mr Michaels voiced the females voices but his male characters did sound kinda “Southey”. There were a few lines that were repeated...when Luigi repeated that he would’ve preferred Anne to have an abortion while on a date with her was nonsensical because it was previously stated/understood prior to asking her out.

terrible narrator

The narration was so terrible. the narrators voice jus sounded old and grouchy, nothing like the young male character and the choice for female voice sounded so fake and annoying also like an old lady. I love the story line but because the same narrator was chosen for the other Bowen books I won't continue to listen. it was hard enough trying to finish this book once I started it. the author has a lot of talent unfortunately the choice for narration left a lot to be desired and was a let-down for the book.

a little outlandish

Good story but a little outlandish the near perfection of the characters in lives makes it a little impractical. Good story narrated by a guy so already it's not going to have the versatility that a woman can do narration wise and a bit on the sappy side. Over all good story OK narration There's a lot of buildup to the sex scenes you have to get like 6 chapters in

Cute but..

Predictable. Still, not a bad read. I really enjoy the narrator he does a good job of making it all sound natural and it just helps drag you into the story.

Love love love!!

Oh my gosh! I love this story. The twists and turns and surprises kept me glued. Max and Anne's love story is so real. I loved the vulnerability seen in Max. He may be a strong man, but he was real and raw. Even when he made mistakes, his authenticity shined through. 💙💙 The narrator was not my favorite in the beginning but I got used to him. I did love how he really brought the characters to life. I just don't think he did female voices as well.

To The Max

Who was your favorite character and why?

I loved both Max and Annie.Annie was so strong, finding herself pregnant and deciding to raise the baby on her own. She didn't count on Max to come along and change her plans!Annie is older than Max and her actions show it. But the age difference doesn't prevent them from starting a relationship. Max' profession and ladies man are what Annie is worried about. She soon learns that Max may be an adrenaline junkie and professional stuntman, (something that drives control freak Cole crazy :)) but he is also a Bowen and family is important to him. Max is there for Annie and she learns to trust him and his feelings for her.“I’ve watched you come apart in my arms. I’ve held you while you slept. I’ve felt your baby kick. No, I haven’t f*cked you. My dick hasn’t been inside you. But don’t be mistaken; we do have an intimate relationship.”I admired Annie for informing the baby's biological father of the situation, and admired Elle's approach to the issue: the father is a decent man (I'm glad she didn't turn him into an uncaring man, he just isnt cut out to be a father). Elle Aycart creates super hot Alpha Male characters with lots of heart and sexy scenes. To The Max delivers of scorching sex scenes, but also surprises us with the slow built between Annie and Max, the tender and sweet as well as the passion.

Any additional comments?

Max's father is one of the highlights of the series. A well developed characters that teaches his sons all about love, forgiveness and the meaning of family!

good story but annoying voice

I debated not finishing after a chapter because of the narrator's voice, but stuck with it.

third time's a charm

The Boston accent was cartoonish at first but the Narrator brought Max to life and I loved it!!! I didn't enjoy Annie's voice however and feel a woman should have played her. The story was great though and I'm glad I gave it another shot!!!
