Publisher's summary

Tanna Barker is a world-champion barrel racer. But her personal life has been less of a success, and she's feeling adrift. After her mother's unexpected death, her father has remarried and sold the Texas ranch she called home. Now a rodeo injury has left the restless spitfire holed up in Muddy Gap, unsure what her next move should be.

Veterinarian August Fletcher has always put his job first. He's never found a woman who could handle his on-the-road lifestyle. But when sassy, sexy Tanna blows into town, he finally finds the woman of his fantasies. And there's something between them, but she claims she's been burned by love-'em-and-leave-'em road dogs before. How can Fletch prove that he's in it for the long haul, and that their sizzling relationship is better than winning any rodeo medal? It'll take some sweet persuasion to convince Tanna that Muddy Gap is where she belongs.

Cowgirl Up

Would you listen to Turn and Burn again? Why?

yes, as our hero Flect is so hunky! They just do not get any sexier than this man

What does Scarlet Chase bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I have most of these books, but I am listening out of order. This one was just so good asthe author got her groove in this one #5. #2 is also very good. She has a big range so lots of characters are ok for her.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

when our hero, helps put a dog to sleep...get a tissue. When Tana goes and gets her man.The dialogue between her and the man stealer is great.

Fiesty Sexy and Tender

Really starting to love this series. The narration is good the writing is better. When was the last time you read a James book that took hours to get a couple into bed? Yes Fletch and Tanna had a one nightstand both character hinted that it was smoking hot but no down and dirty details. The tension and affection grew between the couple until they landed back in bed together and you were thrilled it happened.

Fletch's efforts to help Tanna back into the saddle because it was what she needed even though it might lead her away from him made you willing to forgive his moments of jealousy and foolish need to keep his feelings bottled up.

Tanna's maturing as their relationship evolved and she slowly healed from her trauma were a special insight into how a relationship can change person.

Yes all the smoking hot sex is still there it is a James book after all but unlike some of her other work were you can just insert a sexy cowboy and woman that like to be tied up and spanked these books have depth of character. The women are likable the men capable of seeing to more than their woman's sexual needs.

Another excellent read/listen!

In true Lorelei James fashion she has hit it out of the park again! As a farmer/rancher myself I love that she uses proper terminology and language when referring to ranching and horses! The story is great! And the sex is as hot as always!

Another winner in this awesome series!

This is the 5th book in the Blacktop Cowboys series. As expected, Lorelei James provides us yet again with a singe-your-eyebrows hot romance that delves deeper than ever before. TURN AND BURN is not simply about overcoming the fear of falling in love; it also deals with facing your fears. Turn and Burn is Tanna and Fletch's story. Tanna Barker experienced a disastrous injury that has manifested into a full-blown phobia of horses. She has lost her love for barrel racing as the rest of her world falls apart. Unexpectedly, her mother dies, then her father remarries and has sold the ranch, leaving her feeling adrift with no real purpose. She stumbles on August Fletcher, a veterinarian in a hot one-night stand but after that explosive night of chemistry, both of them are wondering if this could be something more. With clever dialogue and endearing characters, there is no question that you will fall both in lust and love for this passionate yet heartfelt book.  Each book can stand alone, but do yourself a favor and get the series from the beginning. You will never be disappointed purchasing books from this author.

Excellent!

I was happy to see this is Tana's story and got an even happier when I saw it combined with Fletch's! (He's been the star of many of my secret fantasies ;) This is a well written story that covers the usual gammet of love and confusion- but also touches on the problems of PTSD and how 'what you do' is not 'who you are'- for both Tana and Fletch. I don't want to give a spoiler but will say that it is worth the credit, and I suspect that the next book is Tobin's. Whoooooweee!

Scarlet Chase does a good job of narrating with the possible exception of Fletch. She has given him a slight aboriginal accent- but he's a guy that had rarely if ever been on the reservation and was raised by his caucasian father and had scarce if any memories of his native mother. Eli's accent is stronger- which with the more frequent connections to his people makes more sense. Otherwise the narration if fine.
