Richard Schmidt (B.1967) was born in Glen Ridge, New Jersey, to a middle class family, grew up in Essex and Morris counties, New Jersey. Graduated from The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey as a dental Hygienist in 1996. He currently is in private practice with licenses in New York, New Jersey, and Nevada. In an effort to reach a larger, especially children, he created the Plaque Pixie Children's Book Series. The Children's Book Series is designed to provide young children and the parents the opportunity to learn the importance of good oral hygiene with the help of the Plaque Pixie and an age appropriate cast of characters making the learning fun. Additionally, the books allow for children to experience what goes on during a routine dental visit, in a non threatening way. The Tale of the Plaque Pixie, is a prequel to the Plaque Pixie Children's Book Series that explains the origins of the Plaque Pixie. His relationship to the Tooth Fairy, and much more. His second book,"HARRY'S BIG DAY at the dentist", it begins with Harry and his mother getting ready to go to the dentist so he can start school ad is designed for children ages 4-8 introduces them to the different people encountered and the typical events which take place during a dental visit. "HARRY AND THE PLAQUE PIXIE", the third book in the series begins with Harry getting ready for a trip to the circus when all of a sudden he notices green plaque bugs living in his gums. It is designed to offer children ages 6-11 lessons in oral hygiene taught by the Plaque Pixie. In the Forth book, Harry's sister Suzie is going to a slumber party, while there she gets a tooth ache and needs Dr. Jeff to help her out.
