Raw, dark, and insanely hot (okay that was four words, you caught me)

What other book might you compare Dark Secret Love to and why?

Maybe Story of O, but Dark Secret Love is more about love, as the title indicates. The heroine Samantha isn't just out to please her dom - she needs BDSM every bit as much as he does.

Which character – as performed by Rebecca Estrella – was your favorite?

Why Samantha, of course, but perhaps simply because she is so similar to me. Almost every desire Samantha thinks or utters resonates with my own fantasies. Just as Samantha is perpetually surprised that "some men just know," I kept wondering how Alison Tyler knew every one of my darkest thoughts.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The whole thing, basically, and I don't want to give any spoilers... so let's just say vaguely the part Samantha finally learns that kink isn't necessarily shameful.

Any additional comments?

Every person who is the slightest bit intrigued by, curious about, or interested in BDSM should listen to this.

Absolutely! The sex in this book alone is worth another listen.

Sam. Rebecca did an amazing job portraying Samanthas strength and emotions.Very believable, As if it was Rebecca's own story being told.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. Made for a very interesting work day.

Any additional comments?

Of the 70+ books I've listened to on audible, This one is near the very top. I would encourage anyone with any interest at all in BDSM to pick this up. I love that Alison Tyler doesn't take the easy, predictable routes with her characters. I can't really explain the amount of enjoyment I got from this title. I am so glad I finally picked it up.

This is not playing at BDSM, this is the real thing, so if you are skiddish keep that in mind. I enjoyed the listen, I still have a lot of questions about the lifestyle but learned a lot. This listen is extremely erotic and has a lot of explicit sex. The story is not pretend, it is this woman's journey through the BDSM world. The narrator was very monotone and I think this was meant to be but I didn't really like it, it was tolerable though. I will listen to #2.

Where does Dark Secret Love rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is a story of a young woman who loves pain, trying to understand, who she is and why her body works this way. She can not achieve sexual pleasure with out the pain. Starting in High School, and then goes on from there. I have listened to many of Alison Tyler's books and short stories.....By far this will knock the rest of erotica off it's feet. (it's supposed to be semi-autobiographical/ novel) You have to be a true BDSM lover for this story, or it may upset some people that there are people like this who do these things consensually..

Who was your favorite character and why?

Samantha........She is the story.

What does Rebecca Estrella bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Everything in this book is from the "First Person" Rebecca Estella is WONDERFUL.....you actually feel her shame, pain, doubt, and lust. Her fears, about not being normal, and her desires to fit in.....Ms Estella expressed the emotions wonderfully.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I've read Parts of 50 Shades of Gray, I thought it was ok but not a real, never felt the characters were real with depth. so stopped reading after 1/2 the book. THIS book gets you by the guts from the very first. It's hard to stop, you just want to keep going . I understand it's supposed to be a trilogy.....can't wait for the next book.

Again I warn those who are not into HARD CORE BDSM to pass on this. It is all consensual. It is all with adults, but degradation, pain and these things may upset those who are not familiar with the scene. I am so looking forward to the next book in the series. I have always enjoyed Alison Tyler. I'm enjoying her even more now.....WOW.

I had a really really mixed feelings about this book after I finished it.All the guys (who she goes through one after the other with little time for a breather) seemed to blend together into one for me. There just weren't enough distinguishing characteristics about them included.The story also starts to get very repetitive.Later in the story, she gets whipped no matter what she does. She'll misbehave, then get whipped as punishment. She'll behave, and get whipped anyway because she "needs" it.
I would've liked her to come to a point where she's totally accepted herself, but that never happened.
All in all, not a bad experience, but not a great one either.
