Irish Mag was a real person who first came to Bisbee, Arizona, then known as Mule Gulch, in 1878. This story is based on what little is known of this 19 year-old adventurer. She came to Bisbee to be a prostitute, the first and only lady of the evening for some time. She came to Mule Gulch to make her fortune, just like all the men had. The men made their fortune in the copper mine, Mag made hers in the men. How adventurous must a young, 19th century woman be to come to a mining town that was ninety-nine percent men. Mag's adventures in Mule Gulch are based around events that actually took place and how Mag might have fit into these events. Most all the names used were people who actually lived then.
