Acerca de esta escucha

Visions of red. The sounds of screaming, yelling and screeching piercing my ears. The sight of a bare-knuckle fist impacting my mother’s face brings anger back into my heart. The fact that I’m sitting in a prison hospital is so unreal to me. The more I sit here, the angrier I become. “We ran some tests, including a pregnancy test.” “And?” My heart thumps harder than a kick drum. I can hear and feel my pulse thump throughout my body. The word ‘pregnancy’ echoes through my ears, bringing me back to the present. A baby? That is the last thing I need on my plate. “You were dehydrated and you are pregnant,” she says without any feeling as if she drops the same life-changing news daily. “Pregnant?” I question. Did I hear her wrong? At least I hope I did. My copper brown skin turns as pale as the white sheet that covers me. It feels like I'm going to faint all over again. “Yes; you were oversleeping, nauseous and your period is obviously overdue. You didn't notice?” She asks as if I don’t have greater things plaguing my mind. Promising college basketball star, Rain Harris, walks in on her stepfather, physically abusing her mother. Rain naturally tries to protect her mother. It isn't long before Rain realizes that she also needs to protect herself. With a charge of attempted murder, Rain lands in prison, where she discovers that she's six weeks pregnant. Without a family to depend on, Rain feels more lost and lonely than ever. Rain's best friend, Bree, and Bree's older brother, Ju, do their best to support Rain by fighting for her release. The support Ju gives Rain makes them grow closer than she's ever imagined. Join Rain in her search for happiness. Afroamericano Contemporario
