Lara Mehta has spent most of her days trying to avoid her family and the same question that they always ask; when will she get married? Despite being successful and having a great job in a pharmaceutical lab, it's not enough for them. They feel it's prime time for her to move on and settle in with a husband. Lara avoids this as much as possible until one night when a thief breaks into her workplace. The moment she sees him, she cooks up the perfect plan. If she can convince her family that this man is her fiancé, then that means no more questions or badgering.
Sebastian Castillo is smart, handsome, and struggling to survive out in the world. He makes a bad decision when he breaks into a lab and is caught suddenly. However, he is saved by Lara and she makes a deal with him. All she asks is that he pretend to be her fiancé for short amount of time. If he can do that much, she won't tell anyone about his true profession. She also plans to teach him how to be the perfect gentleman for her family. He agrees to this and figures that they will not fall in love. After all, she is well off and he is not. There is no way they could ever be attracted to each other.
At least, that's what they both think...fate just has another plan for them.

Lara, the female lead, is busy working in a pharmaceutical lab to find a husband and settle
down.
Sebastian, the male lead, is not as focused and settled as Lara.
Desperate times causes Sebastian to make a mistake and he is caught by Lara.
There is an immediate attraction or at least Lara on Lara's side.
She makes Sebastian an offer that he can not refuse and so begins an odd relationship that
eventually develops into of something more..
This story line was entertaining until the very end of the book, making it a Good Weekend
Read.
I like that this author writes in several genres.
Coulter Evans did well with the narration.

What I enjoyed was the creative, out of the box thinking. What I didn’t enjoy was the repetition and plot holes. The reasoning behind his motives was spelled out in every chapter. As a reader/listener I don’t need that. Once is enough. I prefer a story to move forward from there. This story stalled then progressed at a slow speed which is OK, depending on the listener. For me I have a short attention span and get plots very quickly and need to see progress or I’m bored. This story, although, a wonderful enticing premise stalled too long and my attention diverted.
The narrator Coulter Evans did a great job but I didn’t think a male was appropriate for the job. In this story I think a female voice would be a better choice. However, he did a great job!
It’s a cute story that in my opinion needs a little plot work but entertaining.
Cute story.

I liked this story because it was romantic and entertaining. The story-line was fun even though is was a bit far fetched.
I almost stopped listening because of the narration. I have listened to Coulter Evans before in a different style book and he did a good job. However, his voice did not suit this story AT ALL.

Coulter Evans has a great voice. However, I think this particular book is just a bad fit for him. I can hear him narrating true crime and being a total rock star in that genre.

The Good News: The concept behind the story was a good one.The Bad News: Everything else.
I've never heard a worse narration. It might work for nursery school story time but absolutely not for an adult romance. He talked sooo sloooow as if every line was from a Grimm's Faery Tale.
The characters were not believable. A single, young Indian scientist would never open her conversation with "I want a F-ck." Joke or not. A hot, tattoo covered engineer would most definitely be able to get a job. It's 2016 folks... we have one working at my place of employment. Facts and actions were wrong and more wrong. No one smokes 4 packs a day... especially if they have no money. He pulls up to a billion dollar heists and it's no big deal to anyone (or the story, really). Yet this big bad boy cums in his pants before I even know we're in a sex scene.
And how much do we need to know about their meals? Really?
I gave this author a second chance but IMHO, this one is worse than the first.
I can go on but I don't think I there's a need. My opinion is stated.
Sorry.

What did you like best about Taming the Thief? What did you like least?
It was a kind of a quirky story. I enjoyed the banter between characters. But it was hard to get into because the narration was all wrong for the story. What did you like best about this story?
The characters had some great banter moments.Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Coulter Evans?
A women would have probably been able to represent the zany characters better. For the big reason as her cadence and tone would be more pleasing and allow you to get into the story more. At times the narration sounded like a computer generated voice. The tone would go up and down mid sentence and make things sound more like William shantner with a bad chest cold.If this book were a movie would you go see it?
Yes. I loved the premise. If it was a bit more stream lined to the main character only it would be a great movie.Any additional comments?
The plot was great, but in this case the narration absolutely killed it for me. It made it hard to follow and at times o was confused as to what characters were supposed to be speaking because the tone never changed unless it was to pitch high/low at random points often mid sentence. It made sentences seemed finished then a long pause just to continue the sentence. It also made things sound like questions when they were statements. But it did not do the characters justice at all. Any joke told or funny moment fell short because it wasn't emoted the same way it was probably written. It made it hard to identify what the characters were feeling because it was monotone. Read the book it will be better. I was given this audiobook for free from audiobook boom for my unbiased review. Not the right narrator for this story

I really didn't care for the narrator. He spoke so slowly that I doubled the paying speed. He really wasn't the right narrator for this type of book.

Would you consider the audio edition of Taming the Thief to be better than the print version?
The narrator was the best I have heard so far in CS Patra's books. Coulter Evans voice was a pleasure to listen to and I enjoyed every moment of this book. What did you like best about this story?
I loved the two main characters, how they found each other and how they were instantly attracted to each other. The characters are introduced and we get a bit more information on each of them throughout the story.Which scene was your favorite?
Hard to pick one scene, I guess the times they were out in the Indian restaurants and she was teaching him about her culture and her family. The tragic scene at the end, no spoilers though.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
This book is quite long, and I had to break it up and listen in the car when my kids were not around to hear it.Excellent audiobook, absolutely love the narration
