Melanie Larson is an attractive, extremely successful business executive who shocks herself by resigning from her job when her company merges with another and relocates. While trying to decide what to do with her life next and at the urging of her uncle, Melanie heads to Rochester, New York, to stay temporarily with her cousin Samantha. touched my soul

Sweet love story! Melanie goes to Rochester to help her flighty cousin Sam with a bookstore she has no interest in. The day after Mel arrives, Sam takes off with her boyfriend without telling Mel what she was doing. Stranded Rochester, she becomes friends with Taylor who is the daughter of the owner of the Carriage House Sam was renting.

Their friendship evolves and they become romantically involved and Mel buys Sam’s bookstore from her uncle (Sam’s father). The plot was well developed, the main characters had chemistry off the charts and Lula Larkin was excellent as the narrator.

Lula Larkin is a wonderful narrator. One of m favorites. The story is dated, having been published 2 decades ago. No smart phones or any cell phones at all. Answering machines with cassette tapes, internet cafes, and VCRs take me back to the late 1990's, but I love little book stores and Xena.

I usually really like Georgia Beers books but this one just wasn't that good. The father/daughter being into the same woman was kind of yuck. I also didn't like the way she kept referring to the main characters as, "the younger woman" or "the red head" etc. They have names, use them.

Honestly my least favorite book from Gerrgia. I thought it was a NEW book, however this is a book from 2001. Characters were one dimensional and predictable. I want my credit back on this one.
