Historia
It’s a beautiful day in Newport, Rhode Island, when Phoebe Stone arrives at the grand Cornwall Inn wearing a green dress and gold heels, not a bag in sight, alone. She's immediately mistaken by everyone in the lobby for one of the wedding people, but she’s actually the only guest at the Cornwall who isn’t here for the big event. Phoebe is here because she’s dreamed of coming for years—she hoped to shuck oysters and take sunset sails with her husband, only now she’s here without him, at rock bottom, and determined to have one last decadent splurge on herself.

Good story told poorly
Revisado: 03-13-25
Terribly flat, monotonous narration spoiled a decent but predictable story. It did help send me to sleep but I don’t think that was the point!

Historia
When Georgia Pritchett found herself lost for words—a bit of a predicament for a comedy writer—she turned to a therapist, who suggested she try writing down some of the things that worried her. But instead of a grocery list of concerns, Georgia wrote this book. Delightfully offbeat, painfully honest, full of surprising wonders, and delivering plenty of hilarious, laugh-out-loud moments, My Mess Is a Bit of a Life reveals a talented, vulnerable, and strong woman in all her wisecracking weirdness, and makes us love it—and her—too.

Beautiful, hilarious, devastating, wonderful
Revisado: 05-31-23
I bought this after reading a newspaper article Georgia wrote and as soon as I started listening, I was hooked. Amazing story, beautifully delivered by the narrator, by a brave, vulnerable, hilarious writer. Thank you, Georgia, for all your incredible writing, and for sharing all of your stories. All the best to you & your amazing family

Historia
Fixie Farr has always lived by her father’s motto: “Family first.” And since her dad passed away, leaving his charming housewares store in the hands of his wife and children, Fixie spends all her time picking up the slack from her siblings instead of striking out on her own. The way Fixie sees it, if she doesn’t take care of her father’s legacy, who will?

Sleepwalking Sophie Kinsella
Revisado: 04-22-19
This author has consistently turned out entertaining, inventive stories
, but this is the opposite. Whiny, weak heroine, completely unbelievable characters and plot, and even awful grammar (does an adverb have to follow nearly EVERY utterance from each character?!). Either this was an early story idea resurrected, the author has run out of ideas, or she just can’t be bothered. Even if you’re a diehard SK fan, don’t waste your money. Delivery a little better than the story but often grating - I don’t get the sense that the narrator liked the story much either!
