I really, really enjoyed this audio book. The narrators were great - the male narrated the "fictional" book, and the female narrated the "real" book.

Two excellent mysteries in one, really enjoyed the "fictional" sub-book. Loved the detective, Atticus Pundt!

I am a big fan of the Fethering mysteries, having listened to all of them!

I really was just happy to find another instalment. It's not the best of the series, but definitely worth listening to if you enjoyed any of the other books in the series.

Good Story, Terrible Narration

Like many reviewers, I found the performance to be below average; Moennig (the narrator) has a decent voice, but I honestly could never tell who was talking; there is no inflection or voice change between characters.

I was able to listen to the whole story, and it was worth the credit and the time. A good police procedural, and I like the female protagonist.

So, I didn't love this book, but it was an okay listen. Will I buy any more books if this becomes a series? Probably not.

I really LOVE Tosha Silver, and this short little book of poems to the Divine Beloved was just what I needed today. So soothing and happy.

I woke up in an irritable mood this morning, got to work still holding anger, not feeling awesome. And I thought, I should re-listen to Outrageous Openness (another of Tosha's books), and then I saw this. I bought it, and listened to it immediately. And I was returned almost instantly to a mellow, peaceful feeling.

If you like spiritual journeys, enjoyed any of Tosha's other writings, then this is worth the few dollars just to feel relaxed and positive.

The concept of this story is really good, and I had high hopes. Maybe the story is even good, but the narrator for the daughter... Oh, boy.

One earlier reviewer mentioned nails on a chalkboard, and that sums it up. The narrator for the daughter was so grating, it was an agony to finish.

Worst audible purchase in a while.

Imogen Church is impeccable as narrator. She is the only reason I finished the book.

I found the story immature, almost like a weak young-adult novel, but far too dark for young teens.

Not my cup of tea, I guess. I won't be continuing with this author, but will always be keen to listen to Imogen Church.

I really love Pema's books and talks, and this is no different.

I should point out, however, that this IS a live talk, or rather, a series of talks she gave in 2015 over a few days. Being live, there is an audience, and, in fact, in these talks, Pema invites a lot of audience questions.

This was GOOD.

Either the audio was later edited so only solid and valuable questions and responses were produced, or the audience was totally solid from the start. Very good insights by Pema, good life experience questions from the audience, that touched on various aspects of my own life and way of being with the world and myself.

I really recommend this if you like Pema Chodron's works.

A Classic Mystery, dramatized by Audible

Revisado: 11-06-17

Important note - This is a dramatized audio book, not a direct reading of the novel. Which means, this is a novel acted out by a full cast of actors, and is slightly shorter than the full reading would be. Personally, I LOVE dramatized audio, but some may not. Listen to the sample to see what it's like.

Ok, my review: I love Agatha Christie, and have listened to most of the Miss Marple and Hercule Poirot classics, either the full version or the dramatized version. I have also read and listened to (and watched!) Murder on the Orient Express, so, while this is an amazing classic mystery, I actually knew the story. And I still loved it! The characters are so rich, the acting is superb, and Poirot is such a delightful treat at any time.

This book throws no surprises, and sticks exactly to the plot of the novel.

This is an Audible Original dramatized book; there is an earlier dramatized version available, by the BBC and featuring John Moffat as Poirot here:

You may also opt for the full novel instead. There is one read by Kenneth Branagh here on Audible.com here

Not My Favourite, But OK.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I would recommend other books in the Kovac and Liska series (Ashes to Ashes, Dust to Dust, Prior Bad Acts, and The Ninth Girl) by Tami Hoag, or, her Oak Knoll series (Deeper than the Dead, Secrets to the Grave, and Down the Darkest Road), which I liked much better.

So, no, I wouldn't really recommend this book, but certainly others by this author.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

The ending was fine. Satisfactory. Made sense. But I did see it coming.

Have you listened to any of David Colacci’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I don't think I've listened to Colacci before, but he did a really wonderful job narrating the story. He had a good tone, and distinguished the characters really well.

Could you see The Bitter Season being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

I can see the Kovac and Liska books (starting with Ashes to Ashes, then Dust to Dust, etc) being made into a TV series. There is good chemistry between the partners and usually good story lines.

Any additional comments?

This book was an ok installment of the series. An acceptable police procedural, but not my favourite by this author.

I just didn't find the story line or the characters or the crimes compelling .

Would you listen to Finding Ultra again? Why?

I have already listened to this book twice, and I would listen again. It is a great story of how a person can hit rock bottom, and then go on to get in peak physical condition even later in life.

Who was your favorite character and why?

This is written and read by Rich Roll. And it is the Rich Roll story. So, he's my favourite character :) But the book is peppered with people he meets along the way, who help him reach for and achieve his success.

What about Rich Roll’s performance did you like?

Roll narrates the book really well. His voice is nice and personable, he never comes across as preachy, and he is just a smooth narrator for his own story.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Finding Ultra: Rediscovering Health and Fitness in Middle Age

Any additional comments?

I found this book really inspiring.

Roll adopts a vegetarian/ vegan diet eventually, which I won't do, but I am aware of the health benefits of proper nutrition, whatever diet one follows.

Seeing how Roll went from raging alcoholic to a yoga-practicing, plant-eating dad and Ultra Man is so motivating!

It is never too late to turn your life around, to start exercising, to eat better, to live better.
