Historia
Legend. Myth. Nightfall has long been rumored to be nothing more than whispers on the breeze. If only it were so. In those halls of darkness, where children are taken from the world and given to shadow and dust, Asher is destined for that same fate. He will become the myth. He will become the legend. He will become the whisper of Death itself.

so dark and twisted a tale in the best way possible. Glad to have it without any harsh language or explicit sexual content. Awesome characters. great narrator.

Historia
There have been 19 years of blood. The ruthless Grand Duke Orso is locked in a vicious struggle with the squabbling League of Eight, and between them they have bled the land white. While armies march, heads roll and cities burn, and behind the scenes bankers, priests, and older, darker powers play a deadly game to choose who will be king.

Villainous and Dark
Revisado: 08-11-23
Best Served Cold is my favorite Abercrombie book yet. But I've only finished The First Law Trilogy so far. Where TFL held the same brooding nature, it was an epic journey to the end (though seeing how this somewhat picks up in the aftermath of TFL, I feel that the whole of Joe's writing in the world is one long tale of how the world reacts to its inhabitants), BSC is hard hitting all the way through. I'm a sucker for revenge tales though so there is some bias therein. The characters are vile throughout this story, and you love to hate them all. I see a lot of complaints about the ending, but I think it fits. It leaves you empty and unsatisfied, just as revenge does. I'm probably digging too deep, but I think that was the intention.

Historia
Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.

A fantastic love letter
Revisado: 05-11-23
The story is a fantastic love letter to classic cosmic horror and well, fairytales. No stone goes unturned during Charlie's adventure. You feel love when you need to feel love, you feel anger when you need to feel anger, and the moments where the impossible and indescribable take place, your skin crawls. Absolutely loved this book.

Historia
World War Three wiped out the humankind. The planet is empty now. Huge cities became dust and ashes. Railroads are being eaten by rust. Abandoned satellites hang lonely in their orbits. Radio is mute on all frequencies. The only survivors of the last war were those who made it into the gates of the Metro, the subway system of Moscow city. It's there, hundreds of feet below the ground, in the vaults of what was constructed as the world's largest air-raid shelter, where now people try to outlive the end of days.

After his adventures in The Tower of Fools and Warriors of God, Reynevan is on the run again, harried by enemies—some human, and some mystical—at every turn. These are cruel and dangerous times for a man such as Reynevan, and to survive, he must set aside his history as a peaceful healer and idealist and play the brutal role of Hussite spy as crusades sweep through Silesia and the Czech Republic, and the world around him is forever changed.

If people would get past their inhibitions about sex, they would see a great story here and realize the the sex that is intertwined well throughout the story is there for a reason other than perversion.

It leaves behind only screams and suffering, and before it, spreads only fear. Lothain, the birthplace of the Wrack, desperately tries to hold itself together as the plague burns across it and its neighbors circle like vultures. The Moonsworn healers would fight the Wrack, but must navigate distrust and violence from the peoples of Teringia. Proud Galicanta readies itself for war, as the Sunsworn Empire watches and waits for the Wrack to bring its rival low.

Great performance, largely forgettable story
Revisado: 08-24-22
Adjoa Andoh always knocks it out of the park with her reads. Unfortunately, her talent feels wasted here with The Wrack. What there is for story lacks for any real character development, and overall, it just falls short of being anything memorable. It's not a bad story. However, it's also not a good story.

Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Wow, just... wow.
Revisado: 09-16-21
Project Hail Mary is an epic tale woven together with everything from drama to comedy to action to as far as being an educational journey. The main character is believable, the science is believable, the situation is believable. The narrator is phenomenal and embraces this story with everything that he has. I cannot recommend this book enough.

It's Warhammer.
Revisado: 10-15-20
Story is a pretty typical Warhammer story. Blood. guts, and mayhem. None of the characters stand out that much in the overall scheme of things including Fabius himself. It's an enjoyable tale, but not something I will remember for years to come.

A Journey Worth Every Minute
Revisado: 10-09-20
To Sleep is something of its own, and it holds itself up among the towns of the genre. Paolini certainly has returned at full form and the maturity of the book reflects the maturity of the author. This story was worth every minute. A fantastic debut reading for Jennifer Hale.
