Historia
For centuries, the vineyards at Château Renard have depended on the talent of their vine witches, whose spells help create the world-renowned wine of the Chanceaux Valley. Then the skill of divining harvests fell into ruin when sorcière Elena Boureanu was blindsided by a curse. Now, after breaking the spell that confined her to the shallows of a marshland and weakened her magic, Elena is struggling to return to her former life. And the vineyard she was destined to inherit is now in the possession of a handsome stranger.

Very Enjoyable!
Revisado: 03-22-20
I really enjoyed this book and hope to see more from this author. I have always loved stories about witches and magic and this one did not disappoint.
These days, I look for books with a good story, without over-the-top violence, and with dialog that is rated G (choosing to stay away from stories with horror, violence and cussing for the most part).
The narrator was great, not distracting, and delivered a believable performance.
I recommend you give this book a try if you like a good clean story and if you also like witch stories and fairy tales.

Very entertaining
Revisado: 03-28-19
This was a great story and performance. I believe this is a young adults novel so while the story was engaging, it didn't include any gruesome storylines as many novels written for adults have. It was just what I was looking and hoping for. A welcome break from stories with too much violence.

I purchased this audio book to listen to in my car on my way to and from work, mainly to keep me motivated to write. A great additional benefit was all of the great tips, insights and opinions shared. The narrator did a fabulous job and was easy on the ears. If you're an aspiring writer and you want a small kick in the pants to get or keep you going, I highly recommend this book.

Original and Interesting Magical Story
Revisado: 02-03-14
Where does The Sorcery Code: Volume 1 rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This book ranks somewhere in the middle among all the audiobooks I've listened too. I can't say that Dima Zales and Anna Zaires are favorites yet, but I'll definitely try some of their other novels. I loved the story idea.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Augusta was probably my favorite character because she was so strong in her convictions and was very passionate about her beliefs and feelings. She made for a great adversary.
What three words best describe Emily Durante’s voice?
Calm, mellow, smooth.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I didn't have any extreme reactions but enjoyed the story overall with the main character Gala being "good" and trying to do the right thing and the supporting characters being adversaries but not all together "bad." I could really feel the passion of the characters.
Any additional comments?
The story felt like a book from a fairly new author. I'm thinking that with more experience, future writings may be more complex. I would listen to the next volume to see what Blaise and Gala are up to next.
