Historia
In Orario, fearless adventurers band together in search of fame and fortune within the monstrous underground labyrinth known as Dungeon. But while riches and renown are incentive enough for most, Bell Cranel, would-be hero extraordinaire, has bigger plans. He wants to pick up girls. Is it wrong to face the perils of Dungeon alone, in a single-member guild blessed by a failed goddess? Maybe. Is it wrong to dream of playing hero to hapless maidens in Dungeon? Maybe not.

Great, but...
Revisado: 12-03-24
I started with the anime, and my only criticism is a personal preference issue. I don't enjoy the first person view. It's not a real issue though.
Also: WHY IS THERE A GOBLIN SLAYER SAMPLE AFTER THIS?!
Gross.

Decent. Could have been better...

Started out strong, but the ending came off rushed and nonsensical. I still prefer his trilogy about the Knights of the Silver Chalice.

Historia
It would be sheer folly to try to conceal the true nature of Althalus, for his flaws are the stuff of legend. He is, as all men know, a thief, a liar, an occasional murderer, an outrageous braggart, and a man devoid of even the slightest hint of honor. Yet of all the men in the world, it is Althalus, unrepentant rogue and scoundrel, who will become the champion of humanity in its desperate struggle against the forces of an ancient god determined to return the universe to nothingness.

If you like their books, you'll appreciate this, though it essentially reuses characters and jokes from their other works.
If not, definitely don't bother.

Historia
Ahriman, greatest sorcerer of the Thousand Sons and architect of the Rubric that laid his Legion low, continues to walk the path towards salvation, or damnation. Searching for a cure for his Legion, he is forced to consider - was the great ritual somehow flawed from the very beginning? The answer may lie within the mysterious artefact known as the Athenaeum of Kalimakus, a grimoire of forgotten knowledge that is reputed to contain the exact words of the lost Book of Magnus...or, perhaps, even a transcription of the primarch’s deepest and most secret thoughts.

The story was good, and the narrator seemed to take some criticism to heart, though he still mispronounces words a lot (Jarl).

Revisado: 04-24-24
The story is great, but the narrator uses inappropriate pitches for all of the characters. I had to come back to finish this because of his narration.
I will still pick up the next entry. The story is too interesting to give up on.

Really loved the naval aspect. The tech and tactics were great.
Could use a different narrator. Sounds like he's trying to channel Shatner.

Better in ways...
Revisado: 02-26-24
I really loved the lead up to the main part of the story. The scientific content was also good.
BUT. An 8 year old girl will grow quiet after the first couple times her yelling brings the big carnivores after her. It seems Crichton doesn't understand very basic psychology. This was a repeated issue, and at some point Grant should have been actively shutting up the little dinner bell. He does not.

Good but Flawed
Revisado: 02-26-24
A decent sequel with a good premise. Unfortunately, for some reason the author wrote almost all of the characters as painfully stupid, lacking common sense and logical reasoning, including the scientists. At times they were bad horror flirt ck stupid. Ian and Levine were particularly bad. This annoyance knocked it down a star.
The narrator was passable. Most of the characters sound the same, though.

Historia
Kihrin is a bastard orphan who grew up on storybook tales of long-lost princes and grand quests. When he is claimed against his will as the long-lost son of a treasonous prince, Kihrin finds that being a long-lost prince isn't what the storybooks promised. He also discovers that the storybooks have lied about a lot of other things, too: dragons, demons, gods, prophecies, true love, and how the hero always wins. Then again, maybe he’s not the hero, for Kihrin is not destined to save the empire. He’s destined to destroy it.

Refreshing
Revisado: 02-15-24
Lots of great ideas on this first book. There are a few cliches, and the family politics are a bit dense, but the style of story telling, characters, creatures, and mythos are great.
Excited to start book 2.
