overall the content of this book is great however, it took several chapters to get to the meat and potatoes of the book. even then it felt too preachy.

after listening to this audiobook half way through, I was already able to practice and see great results with what was being taught. I got my supervisor to open up and talk to me after a dry spell got someone abrasive to relent and learned more about those around me than before. This is a must read for anyone

I've listened to many entrepreneur books so far, and this is one of the best. it could have mentioned less about buying an existing business, however, all the information was concise and straight to the point which is uncommon in entrepreneurial books it seems.

this book was probably the most fulfilling book I've experienced. annoyed with the trappings of the previous books I wondered how C.S Friedman was going to wrap up all the plots that seemed to have holes in them. the coalescence of all of them into a tangible concrete form was quite rewarding. there were many misdirects and fallacies planted in the foundations of the previous books that were carefully crafted so that when the truth was revealed one would feel as excited as the Magisters uncovering a long held secret.

as for the writing, a section towards the middle of the book was plagued by the same issue of the ending to the last book. there were too many redundant words. a sentence would begin and end in the same word or the next sentence would use it too closely to it's last uttering which becomes exceedingly obtrusive when rendered in an audiable form.

this series as a whole was indeed a masterpiece if one had the fortitude to make it through to the end. much of the material was rather off-putting and audience restricting in the beginning which may have hurt it's performance in the grand scheme of things, but towards the end it was a palpable work of fiction.

as for the narration Elizabeth Rogers finally developed a connection to the characters that was found lacking in the previous two books, but in this one she gave it a true breath of life. hopefully this carries on to her works in the future. the characters were well defined; emotions and drama were adequately conveyed.

over all I would recommend this series to anyone with a taste for high fantasy with a splash of Regel elegance but also a tinge of folklore/mythology. it is much more routed in history than the Coldfire trilogy which is refreshing. however I advise however for one to push through any reservations they experience in the first book.

when listening to this book I found myself surprised by C.S. Friedman's creativity in creating obstacles for the protagonists. despite this though i found that not much happened in this book. all the action was devoted to essentially a single place to accomplish a singular goal with only a few tid bits here and there to signify that other parts of the story were progressing albeit very slowly.

as far as writing a further proof read felt let me it was needed towards the end of the book as a redundancy of words between sentences served as a distraction. in addition to this, the word sacrosanct was as worn out in this book as geometric scale or proportion was in the Coldfire trilogy. when reading the books it may not be an issue, but listening to them it feels like a word of the day game people often played in the 90s.

as another side note, the sexual interactions in this book seemed dumbed down in comparison to the last as if there was a sudden need for vague descriptions of what was happening or what the characters were feeling. in addition to this there was a scene towards the beginning where a guard was helping kamala under the illusion that she was hurt and in desperate need of assistance. the idea that the guy was whipped into a sexual distraction from this was very out of place without some hint that sorcery was being played. this was echoed later in another sexually charged scene with her, except that we are told that sorcery wasn't suppose to work properly in the area they were in which failed to explain several things Kamala randomly knew and an exchange between her and another character revealed that she knew more than she should, but never planned out. it felt rather odd.

the narration was much better this time though all the characters on the soul eaters side sounded alike. the only issue I really had a hard time with was the distinction between voiced words and unspoken thoughts which C.S. Friedman is known for. unfortunately the narration made it seem as one single passage until you picked apart the contradiction later.

overall the book and narration was good though I feel it could have been ironed out a bit further.

I almost gave up on this book. within the first few chapters I felt that C.S Friedman failed to capture what I enjoyed of the Coldfire Trilogy. yet I pushed myself through it. then as I read the moment of kamalas first transition, the story completely changed in nature and I found that I couldn't put it down. though the story seemed more light hearted than her previous work and contained more traditional high fantasy elements; it was a wholesome story that rivaled the Coldfire trilogy. if one enjoys the story's of knights and dragons from their youth but yearns for a more adult experience, this may be a story for them.

One of the only issues I found with the book was the overbearing generalization over the significance of womanhood versus manhood throughout the series even though we are introduced to two female leads that demonstrate that the generalization was a falsehood, and likewise several males who break the mould. it almost felt too preachy and out of place in this day and age as if the mind set of the story was stuck in the 90s

the narrator irked me at first, I often found it difficult to differentiate between characters due to all of them sounding like a woman trying to make her voice sound prestigious. eventually I was able to find the nuance in each character and it became less of an issue as time went on especially after I upped the speed to 1.25x.

Overall it was a good story and good narration, however, as previously noted it takes several chapters before one may truly find the worth of this piece.
