Through the ENTIRE second book I was so annoyed with all of Mercy’s friends aside from Alba.
I liked the first book, it was pretty cool and all good and why I kept listening.
The second book drove me nuts with how awful her friends were being.
The third book, Mercy was the worst. Always blaming her mother’s ex with no evidence aside from Mercy is just a brat and didn’t want him dating her mom.
These girls are supposed to be in college but they felt very Middle School.
I don’t think it’s worth continuing the series for me…

I enjoy the cozy mystery genre a lot and this book series is pretty okay. I think wouldn’t say it’s a top 10 or anything, but it’s a good listen when you’re just listening while you work/walk/clean like I do.
I do think this is more for the listeners on the younger side. Someone just starting with cozies.
If you like more mature stories it’s not for you. If you like something a bit more gory, also not for you.
This is very small town cutesy investigation and less dangerous then some of the other cozies.
*mini spoiler for book 3*
The main character was only really in serious danger in book 3

Love Blair, she’s an interesting character and I can’t wait to find out more about her powers and why she can turn into a cat!
I’m also so happy HOLLY IS BACK!
As well as Adam and Harmony!
I am super excited about this new series and can’t wait to also get to know the children in the beechwood manor as well.
The story is interesting and really gets you hyped to find out about the new Vampire situation that’s been bubbling up once again. Finding out how the vampires can break free of Lacy’s taming and who this mystery “boss” is.
There are so many things to look forward to learning about in this new series and so much to uncover.

Although I’ve noticed the frustration people are feeling about the never ending cliff hangers of “Where is Aunt Lavender” there is an ending to the main mystery of the actual book itself.
I’m kinda sad about the way the relationship is going though. I really love cliff. This book made me so sad. And I liked Tabitha too.

The story wasn’t what I was expecting at all when I started this book, but I did enjoy it. It’s a great read for people who aren’t into the magic elements in paranormal cozies.
The story was easy to follow and is charming. I also learned a few things about farming I didn’t know! It was nice.

Reads too fast - not very storing storyline

My biggest issue is the fact that the reading it’s too fast. I had to use the app’s slowdown feature to follow the story
I’m writing this review at book 8 because this book has been bugging the CRUMBS out of me. The level of judgement that starts coming from the main character is appalling!
-SPOILER WARNING-
Once they get to a Japan based area the main character becomes more and more rude. She is judge mental about a lot of stuff related to the culture. She also seems to be too stupid to tell literally anyone that they are in Asia or question anyone about it being in Japan which makes her seem oblivious.
Also it doesn’t make sense with anything about the monsters.
How do humans not encounter these monsters themselves?
It just bugged me because they make this whole story about a human girl in a magical world and they act like it’s a whole other planet and don’t seem to take into the human world into the story line. Like how could all these monsters be flooding towns destroying them and not a single human town was attacked?
And they clearly don’t have that great of magic.
But yeah, my main issue is I feel the main character is becoming rude to everyone starting in book 7 and gets worse in book 8.
I do think this is a book more for middle school kids but there are some adult jokes that may not be appropriate.
I’m going to finish the series just to get the answers but ugh…

I regret listening to it because it makes you crave more but probably will never come. Tess lake hasn’t written anything else in years and that bonus snippet might make you upset. I know I am.
I loved the whole series, it was fantastic!

Out of order but good stories

The stories are great but are out of chronological order. The Christmas books should be after the Morgan summers books. So I suggest skipping and going to the Witch Myth books with morgan and then back track to the Christmas books and then move onto Wild Fire (Gwen and Kennedy’s books)
Altho to be honest the Christmas books feel like they were an after thought. They don’t talk about the events and basically ignore them, and Noel doesn’t appear in any of the other books which was sad. I liked her and her friends and sadly they were all irrelevant to the other 2 sets.
Either way tho, the stories overall were compelling and made me never want to stop listening.

I was really annoyed once I started listening to the book. It’s another “look back” story to finish up the book series. If I wanted to relive the pervious books i would go back to read them.
This was a waste of money. I was very upset. I loved every single one of these books up until this one.
It’s a pet peeve of mine when TV shows do this and when I book does it, it’s even worse.
Basically she goes back and somehow managed to have the same encounters she did in previous stories. Reliving her time because she lost her memory.
Yes there is the “trying to figure out who took her memory” plot line, but that’s not making up for the corny, over used, uninspired retelling of past books.
Im sorry but this one book was the only one I didn’t like.
Emily Lawrence did a great job though with her reading as she always does.
