Historia
What does it take to be secure in our sense of belonging and self-worth? We may hustle to attain this security through achievements, meeting expectations, or repeating affirmations to ourselves - but Dr. Brené Brown's research has shown there is ultimately one obstacle to our sense of worthiness. “Shame is the barrier,” she teaches, “and building shame resilience is how we overcome it.”

Historia
We already rely on science to tell us what to eat, when to exercise, and how long to sleep. Why not use science to help us improve our relationships? In this revolutionary book, psychiatrist and neuroscientist Dr. Amir Levine and Rachel Heller scientifically explain why some people seem to navigate relationships effortlessly, while others struggle.

a must read
Revisado: 10-04-22
I was familiar with attachment theory and yet I found this book mind-blowing. It organizes all the knowledge of adult attachment in a way which is oriented precisely to understanding romantic relationships, in view of both partners' attachment styles. This completely answered my questions as to why each of my previous relationships failed, and gave me hope for a better future in love. Thanks so much for this.

very disappointing for a Transcend fan
Revisado: 10-04-22
I was so excited about the previous book - Transcend - that I couldn't wait for this one to come out. But Choose Growth turned out to be disappointingly shallow and didactic, and adds literally nothing new to Transcend, which was much more in depth, interesting and enlightening. In addition, I just couldn't stand Jordy's narrating. Sorry guys.

Historia
When psychologist Scott Barry Kaufman first discovered Maslow's unfinished theory of transcendence, sprinkled throughout a cache of unpublished journals, lectures, and essays, he felt a deep resonance with his own work and life. In this groundbreaking book, Kaufman picks up where Maslow left off, unraveling the mysteries of his unfinished theory, and integrating these ideas with the latest research on attachment, connection, creativity, love, purpose and other building blocks of a life well lived.

Best popular psychology book I've read in a while
Revisado: 01-11-22
I don't remember the last time I actually reached the end of a pop-science/self-help book. This one was fascinating all the way through. No redundancies, every chapter presents new and exciting insights, which are both interesting for understanding human nature and useful for reflecting on my personal motivations. I'm right in the middle of a major career shift and this book was extremely helpful in clarifying my real goals and needs. I'd recommend sticking through the first few minutes despite the unexciting narration - the author is the narrator, so you can expect a gentle geeky sort of talk, not a sharp sounding actor or journalist, but easy to get used to after a few minutes.
