Historia
Acclaimed author Karen Swallow Prior examines evangelical history, both good and bad. By analyzing the literature, art, and popular culture that has surrounded evangelicalism, she unpacks some of the movement's most deeply held concepts, ideas, values, and practices to consider what is Christian rather than merely cultural. The result is a clearer path forward for evangelicals amid their current identity crisis—and insight for others who want a deeper understanding of what the term "evangelical" means today.

The reader makes it impossible for me to finish.
Revisado: 01-15-24
The reader is just not a good choice for the material. I can't put my finger on it, but her voice just seems misplaced for this book.

Historia
As one of the music world’s most iconic artists and the cofounder of the organizations ONE and (RED), Bono’s career has been written about extensively. But in Surrender, it’s Bono who picks up the pen, writing for the first time about his remarkable life and those he has shared it with. In his unique voice, Bono takes us from his early days growing up in Dublin, including the sudden loss of his mother when he was fourteen, to U2’s unlikely journey to become one of the world’s most influential rock bands, to his more than twenty years of activism.

The loveliest of memoirs
Revisado: 12-02-22
This book, read by Bono himself in his charming Irish lilt, is gorgeous.
You can hear his wonder, amusement and delight at the life he has lived and the people he has loved, especially his Ali.
This book will remain with me for a long time.

After a friend forwards an article about Avery, Marissa takes a chance on this maverick therapist.

Kept my interest
Revisado: 08-05-22
I often lose interest in a book when the characters and storyline become predictable and cliche.
This story has several twists and the characters kept me guessing. This would make a great Netflix movie!
The reader was excellent. Probably the best trader I’ve heard and I listen to a lot of audible books.

Historia
For too long the Religious Right has masqueraded as a social movement preoccupied with a number of cultural issues, such as abortion and same-sex marriage. In her deeply reported investigation, Katherine Stewart reveals a disturbing truth: this is a political movement that seeks to gain power and to impose its vision on all of society. America’s religious nationalists aren’t just fighting a culture war, they are waging a political war on the norms and institutions of American democracy.

Disappointing reader
Revisado: 03-04-22
The content of the book is important, although there does seem to be a strong bias by the writer that casts this important topic in a sometimes snarky tone.
The person reading the book consistently mispronounces words. Example ~ “indignant” for “Indigent.”
Just one of many examples which were very distracting and hurt the books seriousness.
