Historia
Arabella Dempsey's dear friend Jane Austen warned her against teaching. But Miss Climpson's Select Seminary for Young Ladies seems the perfect place for Arabella to claim her independence while keeping an eye on her younger sisters nearby. Just before Christmas, she accepts a position at the quiet girls' school in Bath, expecting to face nothing more exciting than conducting the annual Christmas recital. She hardly imagines coming face to face with French aristocrats and international spies...

Love this throwback story
Revisado: 12-02-24
I always love listening to George Guidall narrate, and I love Craig Johnson’s characters and world. This was a great throwback story to Walt and Henry’s youth, and the thriller elements were on point-everything going wrong, the ghostly elements—I loved this story.

Historia
Imagine if you made one little mistake when you were young and were punished for it for the rest of your life. Well, that’s what happened to Lydia (yes, that Lydia, the youngest Bennet sister from Pride and Prejudice), and she’s here to set the record straight. Hold on to your teacups and get ready for sophisticated (and a little bit naughty) hot takes and witty banter that’ll make you laugh—and think. We meet Lydia just as she is denounced by her family, exiled miles from home, and married to the rogue George Wickham, who seems to love all women...except his own wife.

Excellent work
Revisado: 09-13-22
I was skeptical of this story, because I am a Janeite and therefore skeptical of Lydia Bennett. But this story was told with empathy and kindness, and showed a redemption that felt realistic. Worth a listen.
Great performance too.

Another amazing installment of this series
Revisado: 09-09-22
I love every minute of this long and complicated mystery, as I have done with each of the previous Galbraith books. Rowling is the MASTER of plotting and weaves such detailed and careful mysteries. Plus, I love the characters as they have developed in this series, which always keeps me coming back. I cannot wait for another!
I read a few reviews that indicated this was a hard listen because of all the digital elements of game chat, texts, etc, but I thought Robert Glenister did a fantastic job reading it. I had no more trouble with it than any other book after the first few chapters, and actually enjoyed it a lot. There were lots of clues planted in those in game chats and online conversations.
I also love the real world connection with Twitter wars, cancel culture, and online harassment. Very timely, well-drawn, tight, and exciting mystery writing!

Kate Quinn doesn’t disappoint
Revisado: 04-24-22
Quinn is an automatic buy for me, ESPECIALLY since the wonderful Saskia Maarleveld keeps reading her novels.
I thought this novel was every bit as fascinating as Quinn’s precious, though it built into the action a tad slower.
What an amazing historical story, and I am so glad Kate Quinn was the writer who told it.

Revisado: 03-14-21
I have been waiting for The Rose Code from the moment I finished The Huntress, and it did not disappoint!
The novel is clever, poignant, gritty, funny, and I couldn’t stop listening until it was done. Plus, it’s narrated so beautifully by Saskia Maarleveld, which really makes it come alive.
This book is well worth the read!
