Historia
From the birth of hip-hop in the 1970s to today, women have been just as integral to the growth and development of the rap game as their male counterparts. Nonetheless, they’re consistently shortchanged as artists, creators, renegades, and cultural visionaries in prevailing histories of the genre. The Motherlode changes that.

So well done and worth the listen!
Revisado: 09-19-23
I was excited to listen to this and it was so much better than I expected. Glad I chose to listen to it because the performances were also fantastic and the whole production was phenomenal.

Historia
Victoria McQueen has an uncanny knack for finding things: a misplaced bracelet, a missing photograph, answers to unanswerable questions. When she rides her bicycle over the rickety old covered bridge in the woods near her house, she always emerges in the places she needs to be. Vic doesn't tell anyone about her unusual ability, because she knows no one will believe her. She has trouble understanding it herself.

Couldn’t stop listening!
Revisado: 05-09-23
Great story, great narration. My only complaint is that no one let Kate Mulgrew know how to pronounce Haverhill. Very much worth the listen!

Enjoyable story
Revisado: 04-20-23
I enjoyed the story and I thought the performance was well done. The end was not necessarily what I expected, so that’s always nice

Historia
White Americans have long been comfortable in the assumption that they are the cultural norm. Now that notion is being challenged, as white people wrestle with what it means to be part of a fast-changing, truly multicultural nation. Facing chronic economic insecurity, a popular culture that reflects the nation's diverse cultural reality, and a future in which they will no longer constitute the majority of the population, and with a black president in the White House, whites are growing anxious.

I was hoping for something a little more in-depth, but this was still worthwhile.

Historia
Our brains do their best to help us out, but every so often they can be real assholes - having meltdowns, getting addicted to things, or shutting down completely at the worst possible moments. Your brain knows it's not good to do these things, but it can't help it sometimes - especially if it's obsessing about trauma it can't overcome. That's where this life-changing book comes in. With humor, patience, science, and lots of good-ole swearing, Dr. Faith explains what's going on in your skull, and talks you through the process of retraining your brain to respond appropriately....

Worthwhile despite shoddy recording quality
Revisado: 06-12-21
The recording quality isn’t great, but I thought overall she did a solid job and the info was very helpful and well conveyed.

Great story - awful narration
Revisado: 05-31-16
Would you try another book from George R. R. Martin and/or Roy Dotrice?
I love George R.R. Martin, but i'll probably avoid Roy Dotrice. I think he reads well, but his voice and the "voices" he does are often not distinct enough from each other or fitting to the characters. It sounds like everyone in the book is about 85 and with the same annoying sound and adds absolutely nothing to the story. Honestly, I found it hard to keep my attention - and this is a series where that should be impossible.
Would you be willing to try another one of Roy Dotrice’s performances?
Not likely.
