Historia
Once a black ops government assassin known as Orphan X, Evan Smoak left the Program, went deep underground, and reinvented himself as someone who will go anywhere and risk everything to help the truly desperate who have nowhere else to turn. Since then, Evan has fought international crime syndicates and drug cartels, faced down the most powerful people in the world and even brought down a President. It's the characters
Revisado: 03-08-24
Sometimes I wonder how an author can create new stories for his Orphan X. Lone Wolf elevated the Orphan X series to one of the best. It has interesting characters, snappy deep dialogues. This book has a unique premise and story line: exceptional tension and clever ending.

Historia
As David Brooks observes, “There is one skill that lies at the heart of any healthy person, family, school, community organization, or society: the ability to see someone else deeply and make them feel seen—to accurately know another person, to let them feel valued, heard, and understood.” And yet we humans don’t do this well. All around us are people who feel invisible, unseen, misunderstood. In How to Know a Person, Brooks sets out to help us do better, posing questions that are essential for all of us: If you want to know a person, what kind of attention should you cast on them?

A Call to the Author
Revisado: 12-31-23
This is the sort of book that when you finish it, you want to call the author and thank him.
And tell him that his words will help me be a kinder and more compassionate person.
And then also note that his stories tie together all of the data into a comprehensive narrative.
I would recommend this book to anyone with similar feelings and aspirations.

Forever friends
Revisado: 10-13-23
I would recommend this book to anyone older than 67, who has been a grandchild and perhaps a grandparent, felt regret from time to time and now is looking at mortality is a different light. Then I would recommend it to anyone who has been a friend, had a friend and misses a friend.
I would then include anyone who wonders about life and its meaning, has felt joy and despair; love and abandonment; guilt and redemption. Then I would include anyone who has a soul that seeks understanding and compassion to read this book and reflect on its message. The best time to listen/read this book is now.
I am forever touched by its tender story of friendship.

Nothing motivational, new or inspiring
Revisado: 09-06-23
I could not catch the "flow" of Csikszentmihalyi's book.
The book is just a series general soundbites and mostly incoherent sentences.
Between violin cascades and short comments, I could not understand why this book is so expensive on Audible and it is only 5 hours.

Not plausible

Insipid story development. Difficult to care for the characters. Lacked realistic suspense. The rationale for the coach to go out on his own did not make any sense either.

Historia
In East Prussia, January 1945, the German forces are in retreat, and the Red Army is approaching. The von Globig family's manor house, the Georgenhof, is falling into disrepair. Auntie runs the estate as best she can since Eberhard von Globig, a special officer in the German army, went to war, leaving behind his beautiful but vague wife, Katharina, and her bookish 12-year-old son, Peter. As the road fills with Germans fleeing the occupied territories, the Georgenhof begins to receive strange visitors - a Nazi violinist, a dissident painter, a Baltic baron, even a Jewish refugee.

Bestselling author Dan Pfeiffer dissects how the Right Wing built a massive, billionaire funded disinformation machine powerful enough to bend reality and nearly steal the 2020 election. From the perspective of someone who has spent decades on the frontlines of politics and media, Pfeiffer lays out how the Right Wing media apparatus works, where it came from, and what progressives can do to fight back against disinformation.

Historia
Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your average woman. In fact, Elizabeth Zott would be the first to point out that there is no such thing as an average woman. But it’s the early 1960s and her all-male team at Hastings Research Institute takes a very unscientific view of equality. Except for one: Calvin Evans; the lonely, brilliant, Nobel–prize nominated grudge-holder who falls in love with—of all things—her mind. True chemistry results.

Story telling at its best
Revisado: 10-02-22
This book was terrific. Bonnie Garmus is a gifted storyteller. Ms Zott (the main character) is the person that you want to stand by and cheer for her as she works through the 1970's era. Even 6:30 (her dog) tells part of her story. This book is reminiscent of "The World According to Garp" and even hints of Charles Dicken's "Great Expectations". The book's ending was worth the journey: full of hope, destiny and a recognition of those among us who are kind and see the worth of each soul. The narration is superb.
