Historia
Viola Bowen has the chance of a lifetime: to design a video game based on her all-time favorite book series. The only problem? Her co-lead is Jesse F-ing Andrews, a.k.a. her arch-nemesis. Jesse has made it abundantly clear over the years that he wants nothing to do with her–and Viola has no idea why. When their bosses insist a wintery retreat is the perfect team-building exercise, Viola can’t think of anything worse. Being freezing cold in a remote mountain lodge knowing Jesse is right next door? No, thank you.

Quick, Sweet and Sexy Romance
Revisado: 10-28-24
I needed a break from my overwhelming fantasy book bingeing and wanted a quick stand alone romance with a bit of spice. Stumbled upon this cause I’m a gamer myself and it was exactly what I was looking for. So enjoyable!

Historia
I have never been favored by the gods. Far from it, thanks to Zeus. Living as a cursed office clerk for the Order of Thieves, I just keep my head down and hope the capricious beings who rule from Olympus won’t notice me. Not an easy feat, given San Francisco is Zeus’ patron city, but I make do. I survive. Until the night I tangle with a different god. The worst god. Hades. For the first time ever, the ruthless, mercurial King of the Underworld has entered the Crucible—the deadly contest the gods hold to determine a new ruler to sit on the throne of Olympus.

You think Hades is evil?
Revisado: 10-23-24
Loving this modern setting story with greek gods. A great way for us to sympathize with Hades who’s always depicted as evil. I always felt bad for him getting the short end of the stick. Enjoyed the romance, action, and plot. Made me needing more! Can’t wait for its continuation!

Amazing and different story with dragons.
Revisado: 10-10-24
Easily takes a place in my top favorite books. I LOVE a different take on a story involving dragons. I love the characters, the found family, and an alliance-to-lovers trope. Caden, oh my! The story is amazing and it had me doing what I can to focus listening to it. I can’t wait for it to continue!

Another great story with dragons
Revisado: 10-07-24
I needed a good dragon story after finishing Fourth Wing and waiting for Onyx Storm and this was perfect.
Although not as action packed, I was engaged from beginning to end and now I’m back at needing another good dragon story to fill the void until the sequel releases. I need mooooore of this story asap! The cliffhanger!
It was an amazing ride and can’t wait for more!

Historia
Nice Victorian ladies don’t run off to find legendary lost cities. One trifling little arrest shouldn’t have cost Ellie Mallory her job, but it’s only the latest in a line of injustices facing any educated woman with archaeological ambitions. When Ellie stumbles across the map to a mysterious ancient city, she knows she’s holding her chance to revolutionize Pre-Colombian history. There’s just one teensy complication.

Fun adventure!
Revisado: 10-03-24
If you’re a huge fan of the Steven Sommer’s The Mummy, then you’ll enjoy this book. British feisty feminist scholar and a dashing cartographer adventurer trying to save an archeological city? It’s a fun adventure! No time for spice (for those who are wondering). Well written and narration is great! Can’t wait for them take on their next expedition.

Historia
With ailing family to support, Evie Sage's employment status isn't just important, it's vital. So when a mishap with Rennedawn's most infamous Villain results in a job offer—naturally, she says yes. No job is perfect, of course, but even less so when you develop a teeny crush on your terrifying, temperamental, and undeniably hot boss. Don't find evil so attractive, Evie. But just when she's getting used to severed heads suspended from the ceiling and the odd squish of an errant eyeball beneath her heel, Evie suspects this dungeon has a huge rat . . . and not just the literal kind.

Great story! Not so great reading.
Revisado: 05-08-24
It’s a shame that I have more to say about the performance than the book…
I don’t understand why the performer would end the sentence prematurely. As if there was a period. a few words. before the end. It trips me out because it feels like the thought had ended then, no wait, there a few more words to add on to that thought. Almost, William Shatner like with a mix of Siri.
Also, her tempo was way too slow for the story. One of the comments suggested speeding up the reading. I thought it was silly. Boy was I wrong. I had to listen at 1.5.
Either the performer takes all the feedback and improve for the next one or have her replaced. The story does not deserve that performance especially for what’s to come in the next book.
However, I did appreciate the performer keeping the breathing to a minimum. I absolutely dislike breathy, sharp or dragged inhales, and huffy performances. It is why I kept her rating at 3.
I wish I had the time to read the book. I love the concept of being in another’s perspective which is what drew me to the title. It’s fun. Evie and the Villain’s dynamic is entertaining and wholesome. The progression is steady. The supporting characters are great. It’s just awesome!
Highly recommend, but I hope the next book is performed better.
