Totally engrossing!
Revisado: 01-30-25
Character development is great. Story line is engaging. Performance is spot on. The only criticism l would give is sometimes the AI narrative is a bit long. Highly recommend!

Historia
Rezkin is an elite warrior who aims to restore order in Ashai after Caydean's attack on the King's Tournament transformed former allies and trading partners into enemies. With no army and only a ragtag group of refugees, Rezkin must wrest control of the kingdom from the mad and powerful usurper, who seems bent on destruction, and this may not be the biggest challenge. If he fails, the kingdom will be ripped apart, and Rezkin will have violated Rule 1 - to protect and honor his friends.

This series of books has succumbed to the literary malpractice of becoming disjointed
Revisado: 01-04-25
The story continues to be entertaining but the author is now entwining stories that jump without pause or break in chapter. I will continue the series but hope the author picks up the story without challenge the listener to keep up with disjointed thoughts. For the life of me I don’t understand why authors want to impress upon the readers that they can think faster than a listener can follow.

The heroes are true heroes. The villains are true villains. Some times it is hard to accept but the brutality is a reasonable duplication of reality. Quite the saga.

Historia
At first, they were “Lucky Lima”. Infantryman Ruben Gallego and his brothers in Lima Company—3rd Battalion, 25th Marines, young men drawn from blue-collar towns, immigrant households, Navajo reservations—returned unscathed on patrol after patrol through the increasingly violent al Anbar region of Iraq, looking for weapons caches and insurgents trying to destabilize the nascent Iraqi government. After two months in Iraq, Lima didn't have a casualty, not a single Purple Heart, no injury worse than a blister. Lucky Lima.

An airing of grievances
Revisado: 10-01-24
I thank the author for his service and the respect and honor he paid to his fellow Marines. The book could have stood on its own without the political commentary. I did not know that he was a politician when I started the book but there were hints throughout. The last few chapters are strictly political. One point I must make is that the author is quick to point out that he has used methods of war fighting in politics. I don’t believe I would brag about tricking my political opponents into leaving the arena to pass a law while they were gone. In war, this is done as subterfuge. It doesn’t belong in a government. I will say that I have a better understanding of how some politicians think and am dismayed that such a narrow view can be representative of their constituents. Still the book is worth the listen.

A poem or sonnet. Not a novel. The author is very proud of his word smithing but lacks an ability to weave a story. From a scholastic stand point, perhaps a good work but from a listeners perspective be prepared to be bored.

Remove the foul language and sex and put this in the teen section. Heavy concentration on race discrimination and the musings of a teenage girl. If you are looking for intriguing fantasy this is not the book.
