So, for the last week and half, while doing my treadmill time, I've been listening to Woodward's RAGE . He covered through August of this year, so it was quite topical. The audiobook also included a bonus I was either not expecting, missed when I grabbed it off Audible, or perhaps, noticed at the time, and then forgot before I started listening. Usually my Audible stuff sits in the library until I get to it. 🙂 Here's the thing, the publisher included excerpts of the interviews with the President. As in, the real, raw recordings. In other words, all those bonkers quotes? Yep, they are absolutely real. Now, the "fake news" crowd won't care about that fact, but it matters to me. Woodward was careful. He was meticulous. Also, when he gives his own opinion in the book, he is very careful to say, "In my own judgement". In other words, he's about as fair as you can get with this book. Also, many people were upset about the tile of the book when it was first published. Some folks I know claimed that it was proof of Woodward's "anti-Trump" bias. The word actually comes from a comment the President makes about the reactions he elicits from people. It isn't a judgement on Woodward's part. Rather, it is partly how Trump feels about what he inspires in people, which is...interesting, to say the very least.

This was a funny, short take on the tropes of comics. R.C. Bray is fantastic (though it was weird hearing him do a British accent). I listened to this while working out and laughed out loud a few times. My only complaint was that it was too short. Dear Audile, we need more "episodes" of Baron Steele please! Stat!

Funny, poignant, and containing truths that will have you nodding your head along, this collection of essays from Barry is another winner! The audiobook is made all the better because Barry reads this one himself. Fantastic!

This is the first Perry Mason novel, and while it isn't as strong as some of the others, hearing Mason figure out how to work this one and extricate his client and himself from a jam is fun. You may not like the client, but Perry, Paul Drake, and Della are all fun here.

This is a fun and breezy story helped considerably by the multi voice cast. (As an aside, I wish Audible would make more of these modern audio presentations available. They work like a modern spin on a kind of long form radio show from the 30's). The final resolution is perhaps a bit underwhelming, but the journey is worth it. This thing sucks you in! Enjoy!

As long as you know what you are getting here, this is great fun. The Perry Mason novels are not like the TV show. They are more hard boiled, and very pulpy. Moreover, attitudes are somewhat dated. That said, the story is clever and the major characters (Mason, Della Street, and Paul Drake) are all terrific. Cendese is a fine reader that fits the pulp style well.

This course is intended for the intellectually curious Astronomy layman. In a series of 12 lectures, Tyson guides you through some of his favorite topics. This one is a nice mix of science presented sans a ton of jargon, and a pinch of philosophy. All told in Tyson's unique voice and style. He loves the material, and you will as well. His energy is contagious.

Still, Hammer, after all these years

Max Allan Collins continues his run of completing Spillane's outlines, unfinished manuscripts, and plans for additional Mike Hammer novels. This is modernized pulp, but if you understand that going in, it can be a great deal of fun. Also, the narrator does a fine job performing the story even if he isn't Stacy Keach. How Hammer is it? I could almost.... almost hear the soulful strains of "Harlem Nocturne" which was used for years as the theme for the TV movies and show in the 1980's.

This was a fine audiobook adaptation of Kevin Smith's Graphic Novel. With a full cast and superb sound effects, this is something Graphic Audio and Dreamscape should be proud of. Matt Murdock's world is coming crashing down around him when a girl comes to him claiming she has had a child via immaculate conception. Then, things get even weirder. As the tension ratchets up, and Murdock wonders who he can trust, you will wonder who is behind this whole plot. Well executed drama. Recommended for Marvel fans or Daredevil fans who want a modern spin on an "old time" radio show.

This was another fine entry in the series. This time, August has to investigate a string of burglaries in a rather exclusive neighborhood. Secrets abound and nothing is quite what it seems. Meanwhile, Mackenzie investigates the death of one of the women he dated while continuing to try to sort out his feelings for Veronica Summers. Good stuff. With a wonderful supporting cast, August's laugh out loud humor, and another fantastic performance by Scott Ellis, this one is fun! I wish the author (who writes as Alan Lee) and Audible would go ahead and have the rest of the books in the series recorded. Scott Ellis fits these books perfectly! More please!
