I Love Bob

Very interesting tale of his life and career. Listening vs. reading softens what would otherwise seem like the occasional airing of some grievances. It's his POV, though, and it's very compelling and well told. If you love Bob, you'll love this.

Well told. Really creepy, but not heavy-handed. The creepiest parts are when the family isn't quite sure what's going on. One of my favorite parts about this book is Moore's inspiration. He writes that this story is based on experiences he had in one of his childhood homes. Sure, this is fiction and obviously fleshed out to be a complete haunted house story, but thinking about some of the things that Joey (the child) saw and heard as coming from the author's memory gives this an added level of fright for the reader.

Not only did nothing bad happen to John on his trip, but it restores the reader's faith in the common decency of random Americans. He said it himself, he never wants to hear his coastal friends refer to middle-Americans as flyover people again. Waters' performance, of course, was great as he read his own story and took us along for a really fun bunch of rides.
