Historia
After more than 500 years of exile, the heir to the empyre is wary about his sudden reassignment to active duty on the Goblin War’s front lines. His mission to rescue an outpost leads to a dead-end canyon deep inside enemy territory, and his suspicion turns to dread when he discovers the stronghold doesn't exist.

Brilliant, as expected!
Revisado: 08-19-21
Michael J. Sullivan has once more done what he truly does best. A beautifulyl told story with depth of character. As mentioned in the foreword, read on its own, this book is a complete story, but in the world he has created, it fits in well and explains so much, connecting the "early" novels with the "later" ones.
I eagerly look forward to the next novel and have but one complaint: Why do I have to wait so long?
Keep on writing the good stuff Michael!

Historia
Minalan gets medieval! When you defeat the invading goblin army, get knighted on the field of battle, gifted with lands and gold, usually your happily-ever-after is...happy. But now that Minalan the Spellmonger has been ennobled and enfiefed, Sire Minalan has a task cut out for him that makes defeating goblins seem like child’s play: Moving his very pregnant bride and a few thousand refugees from Boval Vale into the remote, sparsely peopled Domain of Sevendor. But when he arrives, he finds the land withered from neglect, filled with superstition and suspicion.

Disappointing middle of Series
Revisado: 09-08-17
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, but only because it continues an otherwise very good series.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Magelord?
Defeating the dragon
Which scene was your favorite?
The fight with the dragon. After that, the scene at the tournament of Sir Kaye and the confrontation with the censorate.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No. Way too much pontificating for my taste, a little too much 'look at how well I handled things, and how great I am'.
Any additional comments?
The prior two novels were gripping, so I suffered the first seven chapters which were a treatises on how a feudal lord should manage a holding. Way too much mundane politicking with Magic thrown in to cover problems. I feel had the author used the device of book two - tell a tale while relating background along the way, it would have been much better. As for How Great I am, it just stinks!

Historia
Hank is a thug. He knows he's a thug. He has no problem with that realization. In his view the galaxy has given him a gift: a mutation that allows him to withstand great deals of physical trauma. He puts his abilities to the best use possible and that isn't by being a scientist. Besides, the space station Belvaille doesn't need scientists. It is not, generally, a thinking person's locale. It is the remotest habitation in the entire Colmarian Confederation. There is literally no reason to be there.

Refreshingly irreverant
Revisado: 12-06-16
What did you love best about Hard Luck Hank: Screw the Galaxy?
Gotta love Hank, bad-ass that he thinks he is, he has a soul of solid gold, and everyone is better off for it!
Who was your favorite character and why?
Hank - of course! Silly question
Which character – as performed by Liam Owen – was your favorite?
Hank - hands down
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
When Hank offers himself up for the good of the galaxy
Any additional comments?
Typically I prefer epic fantasy over Sci-Fi, but this is comedic genius of the first order! As lovable as Asprin's Phule and company.

Historia
The story of the first Illeniel wizard continues. Tyrion's life among the She'Har had become quiet, but the sins of his youth have returned to haunt him. The Mordan wardens have discovered one of his children, and the other groves are racing to find and claim the rest of his illegitimate offspring. Unable to stand by and watch as his children are used as pawns against one another, Tyrion makes a hard choice, one that will set him against everyone and everything he cares for.

Riveting
Revisado: 05-19-16
If you could sum up The Silent Tempest in three words, what would they be?
Great, exiting, riveting.
What did you like best about this story?
It flows so beautifully, carrying on the story of the beginning of the universe of the Mageborn series. The author really captures the strains of emotion that flow through the story and brings it to life. One can really feel the love and hatred being churned about in the story. The arena fights are well crafted stories, no problem suspending belief and letting the 'new' reality wash over.
What does Alex Wyndham bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Alex voices the book such that it is simply a pleasure to audit the story.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Neither laughter nor crying, but a sense of involvement and deep emotional involvement.
Any additional comments?
This is a great read and I look forward to more of the same as the story progresses. Easily in the same league as David Gemmell and Joe Abercrombie!

Farewell and Thanks for all the Fun
Revisado: 09-13-15
What did you love best about The Shepherd's Crown?
A beautiful story that sums up what is best about the writings of TP. The death scene of Granny Weatherwax is an astounding one in that DEATH's eulogy to GW could have been for TP himself. Alas it is with deep regret we have to part the discworld and it's characters, but we are safe knowing that Ponder has Hex and Tiffany and the Wee Free Men have everyone's backs!
What other book might you compare The Shepherd's Crown to and why?
Huckleberry Finn, as it is about endings and new beginnings. A salute to an old world with a nod to how it must change.
What does Stephen Briggs bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The voices of the Characters, in particular the Feagles.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes.
Any additional comments?
It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Terry Pratchett, having read him for more than twenty years and having met him once in NY in 1998.

Historia
FitzChivalry - royal bastard and former king’s assassin - has left his life of intrigue behind. As far as the rest of the world knows, FitzChivalry Farseer is dead and buried. Masquerading as Tom Badgerlock, Fitz is now married to his childhood sweetheart, Molly, and leading the quiet life of a country squire. Though Fitz is haunted by the disappearance of the Fool, who did so much to shape Fitz into the man he has become, such private hurts are put aside in the business of daily life, at least until the appearance of menacing, pale-skinned strangers casts a sinister shadow over Fitz’s past...and his future.

Historia
Bitter and merciless war is coming to the frozen north. It's bloody and dangerous and the Union army, split by politics and hamstrung by incompetence, is unprepared for the slaughter that's coming. Lacking experience, training, and in some cases even weapons, the army is scarcely equipped to repel Bethod's scouts, let alone his elite forces. In the heat-ravaged south, the Gurkish are massing to assault the city of Dagoska, defended by Inquisitor Glokta.

Fast Paced and Invigorating
Revisado: 11-19-12
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
It is an acquired taste. Correia writes with pretty gratuitous violence, but it is done in a very light-hearted and comic fashion which makes the 'blood-and-guts' action very palatable. I would not suggest seeing a movie based on this unless you really love horror.
What about Oliver Wyman’s performance did you like?
The reader really gives the characters personality as his accents and intonations are excellent in the way they are used.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Do not see this movie!
