Historia
Miranda July’s second novel confirms the brilliance of her unique approach to fiction. With July’s wry voice, perfect comic timing, unabashed curiosity about human intimacy, and palpable delight in pushing boundaries, All Fours tells the story of one woman’s quest for a new kind of freedom. Part absurd entertainment, part tender reinvention of the sexual, romantic, and domestic life of a forty-five-year-old female artist, All Fours transcends expectation while excavating our beliefs about life lived as a woman.

ugh, disappointed
Revisado: 02-19-25
Well rats! I was looking forward to this book after hearing the author on a podcast I love. Unfortunaly it is very heavy handed, with an unlikable main character. It seem slike the author is not holding anything back sex wise. It feels like there is a heavy handed attempt to be "cool" and with it. Look at me I am into all genders and all kinds of sex. It was really heavy handed is the best way I can describe it. All about virtue signaling

Historia
On a foggy July evening in 1956, the Italian cruise liner Andrea Doria, bound for New York, was struck broadside by another vessel. In eleven hours, she would sink nearly 250 feet to the murky Atlantic Ocean floor. Thanks to a daring rescue operation, only 51 of more than 1,700 people died in the tragedy. But the Andrea Doria is still taking lives. Considered the Mt. Everest of diving, the Andrea Doria is the ultimate deepwater wreck challenge.

Love the truth and the history of this small little known community. The tragedy of the deaths are well told and the information about the wreck and what it is like to dive it are great

Mindy! I'm your biggest fan!
Revisado: 11-17-15
If you could sum up Why Not Me? in three words, what would they be?
Funny, Relatable, Smart
What other book might you compare Why Not Me? to and why?
Her other book, Is Everyone hangout without me? Her first book is written in the same first person voice, you love from Mindy. She is funny, and smart, and makes her readers feel like we know her; or at the very least like we want to know her.
What about the narrators’s performance did you like?
Mindy reads her own book. This is the very best, because as a performance artist she is perfect to read her own first person work. She delivers the work perfectly.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Why not me?- Exactly! It is Mindy's time to Shine.
Any additional comments?
I adore Mindy's writing. Her work on the Office, and on her own TV show the Mindy project are smart timely funny and endlessly entertaining. Her books are even better, the books give you a glimpse into what an amazing open and honest person Mindy must be. I am a life long fan.

Historia
They say Black Dow has killed more men than winter and clawed his way to the throne of the North up a hill of skulls. The King of the Union, ever a jealous neighbor, is not about to stand by smiling while Black Dow claws his way any higher. The orders have been given, and the armies are toiling through the northern mud. Thousands of men are converging on a forgotten ring of stones, on a worthless hill, in an unimportant valley, and they've brought a lot of sharpened metal with them.

Joe Abercrombie delivers the blood and guts
Revisado: 11-17-15
What did you like best about this story?
I am a fan of Abercrombie. This is not my favorite of his novels, but even so he still manages to pack in the major battles, and the wonderful characters I can't live without. Drama, blood, heroes, this novel has it all.
What does Michael Page bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Page's reading ads drama, and gives each character a voice unique to that character. His voice moves the action along, and never falters.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Oh yes. I did have to re-listen, to refresh myself as to where I was in the battle, and which camp I was in. But thats isn't uncommon in these wonderful long epics. I admit that there where groups of characters and certain story lines I would have spent more time with if I could have.
Any additional comments?
Like any of his books, don't miss Abercrombie's book Heroes. It is really well written, exciting, and full of action. There are many familiar names from the other books, and some new ones as well. It is a great listen.

JK Rowling doesn't disappoint!
Revisado: 08-14-13
What did you love best about The Cuckoo's Calling?
The story, the characters. So real so full. JK Rowling has a gift for getting her characters right on. they are so likable and so believable at the same time.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
For sure. there is no way to guess ahead at who did the deed. but there are other interesting side story that follow along the main crime story line as well.
What about Robert Glenister’s performance did you like?
clear, easy to understand. great distinction between the different English dialects. Love the Yorkshire!
