Historia
I loved the anonymity, flexibility and solitude that working the night shift at Storage Queen gave me. The unsociable hours paid well, helping me fund my university degree and giving me a quiet place to study while the world slept peacefully in their warm, cozy beds. It was the perfect job for me. But that Friday night proved to be more than I bargained for when a man walked through the door, dragging a large suitcase. My immediate instincts told me something was wrong. That’s when my ordeal began. I just had to make it through the night shift.

Loved it from start to finish
Revisado: 03-17-25
I absolutely loved The Night Shift by Gemma Rogers! The narrator, Imogen Church, did an incredible job—her ability to switch between voices and make each character stand out was amazing. The intrigue kept me hooked, and I never knew what was going to happen next. The twists and turns had me completely invested, and at times, I even felt sorry for some of the bad guys (well, not the bad bad one, but you know what I mean). If you’re looking for a suspenseful, edge-of-your-seat thriller, this one is definitely worth it!

OMG, wow, that was really good!
Revisado: 02-23-25
This was one of those stories that completely pulled me in. At first, I felt sorry for the character who seemed to be the victim, but as the story unfolded, it became clear that they were actually the villain. I had a feeling something was off, but the way the past was described felt so believable that it kept me second-guessing. The storytelling was compelling, and the wrap-up was incredibly satisfying—it didn’t leave me hanging, but it did leave me thinking.
I also have to give major kudos to the author. The level of detail was incredible—I could truly visualize the roads the characters walked on and how the house was situated. It felt like I was right there in the story. The descriptions were so vivid that they added an extra layer of immersion to the experience.
My only lingering question is what triggered the character to start doing what they did after being quiet for so many years. I may have missed something, but I would’ve loved a little more insight into that turning point.
And I have to say, the narration was absolutely top-notch! The two narrators brought so much depth to the story, making each setting and character feel incredibly real. Their performances truly elevated the experience. I would highly recommend this audiobook to anyone who loves a gripping, well-paced thriller!

This book had me on the edge of my seat—I did not expect that ending! I love the storyline and the narrator. The different voices the narrator used really brought the characters to life and made the story even more intriguing. I couldn’t stop listening and spent my whole day trying to finish it!
I’m also a huge fan of DI Amy Winter books. Her character feels so real, dealing with everyday emotions and conflicts, which makes the stories even more engaging. I really hope Caroline Mitchell keeps writing more in this series! This psychological thriller was gripping, unpredictable, and kept me guessing right up until the end. Definitely checking out more from this author and narrator!

Resounding five stars from me for both the story and the performance
Revisado: 03-29-24
I just finished “A Breath of Fresh Air” and straight up, it’s a full five stars for the story and the narration. The characters, especially Rosie and Oliver, are so well-drawn that I felt like I was right there with them. The narrator, Rebecca Norfolk, was amazing—her performance really made the story pop and kept everyone hooked, which is why I loved it so much.
The mix of mystery and romance was on point, not overdone at all, making it perfect for a group listen on a road trip. It’s got that empathic pull where you’re happy when the characters are happy—it’s that engaging. And, wow, that cliffhanger at the end had me thrown—I didn’t expect it, and now I’m super eager to find out what’s next for Rosie and Oliver, and who Oliver’s dad will turn out to be.
This book, and the series, are keepers for sure. Whether you’re here for the thrills, the laughs, or the ‘aww’ moments, you won’t be let down. Counting down the days until the next one!

Historia
My darling little boy Albie adores playing at our new neighbours’ house. And after the terrible year we’ve had, I feel so lucky that we can start over in this perfect place, with new friends who treat Albie like the son they never had. He can’t stop talking about the tree house they’re building him, and the cookies they bake together. But as time passes, something starts to feel wrong. Why don’t they ever open the front door more than a crack? They told me they had no children so who does the small pink tricycle I saw in their hall belong to?

WOW: Twists Beyond the Bedroom Window
Revisado: 11-27-23
K. L. Slater's "The Bedroom Window" is an enthralling psychological thriller that keeps readers on the edge of their seats from start to finish. Narrated by the talented Clare Corbett, this audiobook is an immersive experience that truly brings the story's characters to life.
The plot revolves around a web of suspense and intrigue, where almost everyone, except the private investigator, appears to have some degree of complexity. The author skillfully weaves a tale filled with unexpected twists and turns, compelling the listener to constantly reassess their assumptions. The narrative is so captivating that there are numerous 'wait-what?' moments, prompting listeners to rewind sections to ensure they've grasped the intricacies correctly.
One of the book's most intriguing aspects is the ambiguity surrounding certain characters and their motives. The author cleverly leaves room for interpretation, inviting readers to draw their own conclusions. Whether Neil genuinely had an affair or was listed among Charlie's 'get-outs' due to his medication lies remains open to speculation, adding an extra layer of mystery and depth to the narrative.
Clare Corbett's narration deserves applause, as she masterfully embodies each character with distinct voices and mannerisms. Her ability to vividly portray various emotions, from coughs to moans, elevates the audiobook to an almost theatrical experience. Without Corbett's skillful narration, the story might not have held the same allure.
In conclusion, "The Bedroom Window" is an absolute standout in the realm of psychological thrillers, earning a well-deserved five-star rating. K. L. Slater's gripping storytelling combined with Clare Corbett's exceptional narration creates an immersive experience that captivates listeners until the very end. If you enjoy suspenseful tales filled with intrigue and multifaceted characters, this book is an absolute must-listen.

Awesome: Captivating Intrigue
Revisado: 11-23-23
Truly awesome! ‘The Lodge’ by Sue Watson features an awesome narrator who skillfully changes her voice to embody different characters, making the storyline even more engaging. The ability to sound like distinct individuals adds depth to the narrative, enhancing the immersive experience.
Moreover, Watson’s skill in visualizing the environment is outstanding. Her descriptive prowess allows readers to vividly picture scenes like the person in the snow or the hushed conversations outside the bathroom window amidst the snowfall. This attention to detail truly elevates the reading experience, making it feel incredibly real.
I love this author’s ability to keep me engaged throughout the book. The ‘who-done-it’ mystery keeps me guessing every time, and just when I think I’ve figured it out, another surprising twist emerges right up until the end. Sue Watson has done a great job on all accounts!

Historia
Of course, I’m not going to murder her in the night. I need my laptop back first. That’s the whole point of making friends with Emily Harper, author of the hugely successful novel Diary of an Octopus. So I could get into her apartment and take back what’s mine. Emily doesn’t know who I really am. She thinks I’m her biggest fan, her new best friend who happens to need a place to stay for a few days. She doesn’t realize the laptop she found—and took—from a busy airport almost two years ago was mine. I don’t care about the laptop, just what's on it: my diary.

Narration, Subject and Pacing Issues & Challenges
Revisado: 11-19-23
In Natalie Barelli’s ‘Finders Keepers,’ the challenge arose from a single narrator attempting to voice various characters, notably the men and Lola. Regrettably, the narrator’s attempts fell short in capturing the distinctiveness of these characters. The pacing felt drawn out, prompting me to increase the speed to 1.5 just to improve the narration slightly, but it still didn’t feel authentic, particularly in differentiating the voices. Moreover, repetitive segments could have been condensed, potentially reducing the book’s length by at least an hour. Despite my positive experiences with this author’s previous works, this particular book failed to engage me. The protagonist’s internal struggles felt protracted, and certain aspects ventured into exaggerated territories, notably the extreme measures taken to retrieve her laptop, including unsettling stalking behavior, which made the storyline seem implausible. I finished the book but it was far from believable like some psychological thrillers.

Love it
Revisado: 09-18-23
This was especially true at the end when they led you to believe that one of the main characters had died, but it ended up being someone else,” you might consider rephrasing it for a smoother transition. For example: “The suspense reached its peak at the end when it seemed like one of the main characters had died, only for it to turn out to be someone else. I was relieved, though it was unfortunate for that character.
