Well, Sh*t...
Revisado: 12-27-23
I don't watch much TV, so I didn't know much about Leslie Jordan until the pandemic. One day I stumbled upon his Instagram and was delighted with his posts to his "fellow hunker-downers". While as an essential worker I wasn't locked down, I found his posts were a bright spot among the news of the day. This book perfectly captures his personality and demeanor, and his narration is an absolute treat. I only wish he was still with us because I'd listen to every book he published. His passing was one of the few celebrity deaths I actually mourned.

A teenage girl from a small Ozarks town is missing and feared dead. Hired by local police, Harper locates the girl's body in a nearby forest. But there's more than one corpse in those woods, and the second one raises questions no one wants to ask.

A bit too predictable
Revisado: 12-19-21
I figured out the why, if not the who, about halfway through the story, and the who wasn't a big surprise. That said, I liked the main characters and enjoyed the story.

Historia
The Grand Hotel is a horror novel by esteemed best-selling author Scott Kenemore ( Zombie, Ohio) that takes the reader on a thrilling ride through an interconnected series of stories narrated by the desk clerk and the residents of the hotel itself. And while it is not known whether or not the desk clerk is actually the devil incarnate, it is strange that so many visitors who come for a tour of the hotel have a way of never leaving.

Off to a slow start
Revisado: 12-03-21
I'll be honest, I almost gave up on it 2 chapters in. I just wasn't getting into it. Stuck with it, and by chapter 7 I was so enveloped in the story that I didn't want to turn it off to go to bed.

Terrible narration
Revisado: 09-20-21
Listened to 1 story and had to return it, which is too bad because I like quite a few of the authors and the stories sounded interesting. There is, however, no way I could listen to Bridger Conklin's monotonous narration for 10+ hours.

Historia
In the second volume of her Northern Trilogy, Sarah Stonich reassembles characters that endeared Vacationland to so many fans: Retired union miner and widower Alpo Lahti is about to wed his charming and lively bride, Sissy Pavola, but, with Rauri unaccounted for, celebration seems premature. Alpo's son Pete struggles to find his straight and narrow, then struggles to stay on it, and even Sissy might be having second thoughts.

A Wonderfully Written Follow-up To Vacationland
Revisado: 08-07-19
I highly recommend reading Vacationland to get a feel for Hatchet Inlet and the wonderful characters therein before diving into Laurentian Divide.
I love the way Sarah Stonich weaves a tale, and it's refreshing to read a modern novel that's written from more than a single point of view. I do wish, however, that Amanda Ronconi had stayed on board to narrate this book also, as it is a bit of a pet peeve of mine when different books of a series have different narrators.

PLEASE tell me book 2 is coming soon!
Revisado: 03-23-15
I'm on my 3rd listen in 4 days. Not only is Amanda Ronconi my favorite narrator, but the story has just the right amount of humor and humanity. The only drawback was Ms. Ronconi 's attempts at auctioneering, but even that is easy to overlook once you get caught up in the story.
l am anxiously awaiting the next book!

Historia
In the hustle of modern technology it might seem odd to discover an angel surfing the Internet, but what an interesting paradox that would be. Here, in Andrew M. Greeley's fine tale of young love and faith, Toby Tobin considers the peculiar terms of his great-uncle's will. Ten million dollars, a required visit to Ireland, ending a Tobin family feud, and a request to court his eight cousin once removed, Sara Elizabeth Anne Tobin.

Over Too Soon
Revisado: 01-11-15
Loved it, as I do most of Greeley's, but 'tis too short altogether! As usual, there were characters I cared about, but I wish the book had explored other characters more fully. It felt as if just as the story was getting good, it was over.
