Historia
Baton. Light. Chocolate. Duck. This is not DS Adams' usual kit. This is not DS Adams' usual case. She doesn't think it's anyone's usual case, not with the vanishing children and the looming bridge and the hungry river. Not with the snap-snap-snap. But six kids are missing, and she's not going to let there be a seventh. Not on her watch. And she knows how to handle human monsters, after all. How different can this really be?

I got here by Gobbelino and I'm glad I did!
Revisado: 02-10-25
I enjoy the Gobbelino London series and wanted to see what else Kim has up her sleeve. I'm glad I did.
this is a far more grounded series and a bit more serious but after the world building in the London series this seems to be a natural, for me at least, sequel.

Historia
Humans seem to believe that this chaotic mess of a universe is more or less puttering along on its own. As if universes were completely natural concepts. What if I told you there were no scientific laws? What if I told you that everything, including the facts you are most certain about, could fundamentally change at a moment’s notice and never go back to the way they were before? All life, each object, every feeling or thought you possess, are based entirely upon Spells. It is an active, continual process. They are creating us this very instant.

it's all right very true place and a change of pace
Revisado: 04-03-24
this is not an elseworld Hank book: you can just keep reading that series for more of that.
This story layed the foundation for a very interesting (to me at least) world of intrigue, nonsense and pseudoscience that I found really fun.
This book is more like the movie Everything, Everywhere, All at Once rather than Hank and you have an idea as to what to expect.

Historia
Garm trained her whole life as a member of the secretive Quadrad organization. Her planet is famous for its assassins and governmental manipulators. It’s whispered that behind every mysterious death lurks a Quadrad. But when Garm enters the wide galaxy, she finds her prestigious training entirely insufficient. Most Quadrad are abysmal failures, unable to cope in an advanced technological empire. The Quadrad are nothing but a very clever marketing campaign that has been going on for 20,000 years. But Garm is different.

We get some lore for Garm: and it's good!
Revisado: 10-10-21
While I agree that this should have had a title change to state this is an origins book that doesn't take away the fact this is a GOOD origins book. We get to find out how our lovable cynic started out ... as not a cynic.
Also while I think Liam could have done this book fine the narrator they chose was fine and there's only one name that is pronounced differently between narrator's and luckily it's not TOO distracting it's there.
if you want to get more of a look at tye Empire and the Quadrad this is worth a listen.

Historia
James Crowley met his mortal end in a hail of gunfire. Now, he finds himself in purgatory, serving the White Throne to avoid falling to hell. Not quite undead, though not alive either, the best he can hope for is to work off his servitude and fade away. His not-so-sacred duty as a Hand of God? Use his new abilities to hunt down demonic beings that have infiltrated the mortal realm. This time, the White Throne has sent him to the middle of nowhere: a Western town called Dead Acre with a saloon, a moldy church, and little else worth talking about. There isn’t even a sheriff.

what a great self contained story!
Revisado: 01-04-21
I have to admit this is my first weird west tale that I've ever reviewed.
this story is told very well by both the narrator, who killed the delivery, and the author team who wove a bleak yet fascinating world for our protagonist to work in.
if you are looking for something new and have Audible premium (it's an included title), there is zero reason to pass this up!

Hey, I get it, we know he's going to win, but he never came close to losing in any of the stories and was able to accomplish superman/the flash level feats of ability pretty much at will.
I'll still get the next anthology but I hope he gets to grow and lose so the stories are more interesting.

A nice scf-fi book remenicent of Macross
Revisado: 03-05-13
What made the experience of listening to The Lost Fleet: Fearless the most enjoyable?
The thougthfulness of the encounters, you could tell the author had a good understanding of tactics and the political nature of military command. While I never got the sense that anyone could be expendable at any time, I did get an earnestness form the characters.
Have you listened to any of Christian Rummel and Jack Campbell ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
This is my first book with this pair and it won't be my last!

Why are all these people complaining?
Revisado: 08-02-11
Not only is the most compelling story in the past few books (how else can you tame a seemingly immortal and bad ass wizard? You kill him!), but the narration is ... well it's sort of awesome.
I don't know if these folks just have a thing for the previous narrator but this guy follows the queues from Marsters but makes it his own work. And he is GOOD!
So for me, a good story plus a very good narrator made this the first book I sat down and listened to over three days straight (and yeah it's 17 hours long).
So please don't listen to all of the 1 star crybaby reviews and listen to folks who actually payed attention to the story, enjoyed the characters and really liked how this book took the onus out of magic and put it squarely on characters and plot.
If you like Harry Dresden and you want to see him actually get back to being a regular person surviving on his wits, you will LOVE this book.
