Good but missed potential.

Decent story, awesome narration and sound effects
Revisado: 06-22-19
Fine backstory on Dooku and how he became "Count Dooku", highlights the fact Jedi's are not supposed to have family ties. The full cast narration and full sound effects was really fun. Didn't feel like your ordinary audio book, it was more immersive and was like listening to a movie. Definitely will look for more book with this style!

Historia
Beginning with the birth of the nation, slavery divided and caused conflict for the United States of America, worsening during the country's early decades as the practice became more economically vital. Finally, in 1861, the American Civil War erupted after the election of President Abraham Lincoln. Never acknowledging the South’s right to secede, Lincoln and the North fought the South through four long, bloody, destructive years; much longer than anyone thought the war would last.

Good overview of a huge topic
Revisado: 06-22-19
I was interested in how they were going to condense such a large, multi-faceted topic - I thought they did a decent job. Interesting little contextual tidbits about some events that lead to the Civil War (the 1807 Act to end the slave trade) all the way through to some commentary on the way it shaped US society today.

Historia
At first, it looks like a disease. An epidemic that spreads through no known means, driving its victims mad with memories of a life they never lived. But the force that’s sweeping the world is no pathogen. It’s just the first shock wave, unleashed by a stunning discovery - and what’s in jeopardy is not our minds but the very fabric of time itself. In New York City, Detective Barry Sutton is closing in on the truth - and in a remote laboratory, neuroscientist Helena Smith is unaware that she alone holds the key to this mystery...and the tools for fighting back.

Interesting concepts, liked Dark Matter better
Revisado: 06-22-19
Interesting to think about what role memory plays - lots of different angles, twists, turns, and timelines on that. Never broke into the "great book, page-turner, couldn't put it down" category, but wasn't boring. It had a kind of somber tone to it - in content and narration (which suited the story) - so if you want a "feel good book", save this one for later. I personally liked Dark Matter (also by Blake Crouch) better.

Explore the life of one of the medieval world’s most memorable figures. Eleanor of Aquitaine became the queen of both France and England, the wife of two kings, and later the mother of two kings. Heiress to the rich French provinces of Aquitaine and Poitou, she was undoubtedly one of medieval Europe’s most powerful and wealthiest women.

Good little read, didn't know a lot about her
Revisado: 06-12-19
Didn't know a lot about her before, have a general sense now. Was intrigued by description wife of two kings and then mother of two kings. I knew a little bit about Richard the Lionhearted, so interested to get an extra perspective on him and his family. Also, read that some of the Game of Thrones characters were loosely based on Eleanor of Aquitaine and her family.

Historia
James I of England and VI of Scotland was the first king to rule both countries. He was faced with division between his realms and caught between the religious wars of the Reformation. Spending most of his reign at odds with the religious and parliamentary powers around him, James did little to unite his people. Unable to take a firm stand on critical issues, he spent his life avoiding them.

Decent book, gave a little more info on James 1 than what’s commonly known
Revisado: 06-10-19
I knew James I created the King James Bible and was technically the first king of England and Scotland. This filled in some more details. I recently read the full bio of Mary Queen of Scots, so getting a snippet of her son’s life was interesting.
Solid narration, easy to understand and follow - for personal preference I turned up the speed to 1.25x.
