Addressing topics like guilt, shame, and self-care, this compassionate guide will help you reflect on your life in surrender to God's mercy. Written by an internationally recognized professor of Orthodox theology, this audiobook will speak to you wherever you find yourself.

How to Fall and Get Up
Revisado: 01-05-24
This book provides the intended mindset for a Christian. The book fits two extremes: those too hard on themselves and dejected, and those too confident in God’s grace that it leads them to sin.
The goal being to realize that our sin is overwhelmingly terrible and we can only be embraced as the prodigal son by Christ in response. To also never forget that God deeply loves and desires all to be saved and come to a knowledge of the truth. The book demonstrates and helps one to attain this type of mindset far beyond my comment.

Historia
In his classic exposition of the theology of the Church, Lossky states that the Eastern Tradition..."has never made a sharp distinction between mysticism and theology; between personal experience of the divine mysteries and the dogma affirmed bu the Church". The term "mystical theology" denotes that which is accessible yet inaccesible' those things inderstood yet surpassing all knowledge.

Beautiful theological work
Revisado: 12-01-23
This is my favorite orthodox theology, thankful that someone did this audio recording!
It is not without a few interesting pronunciations of words, but not anything overbearing. Of course I don’t know the proper pronunciations all the time either but have just heard a couple pronounced differently from others.

Historia
Over the centuries since the Great Schism between the Eastern and Western Churches, the two groups have diverged to the point that they often no longer understand each other’s vocabulary, let alone the fundamental concepts on which each faith is built. Know the Faith is an attempt to present Orthodox Christianity in a way Western Christians can understand, grounding each point in Scripture and patristic theology, with comparisons to what Catholics and Protestants believe.

Great overview
Revisado: 12-01-23
I’m a convert but always enjoy finding books that I can rough up my Protestant edges with to remind me of the central teachings of the faith. Great for anyone really, someone new to the faith or learning about some nuances after being Orthodox for awhile (even cradle Orthodox).

Historia
Mary is the flower of femininity to some, a woman of power to others. She has been seen as a paragon of obedience as well as an instrument of liberation. Some have piled her status so high that it rivals that of her Son. Other do their best to ignore her. Behind all of those images is a girl who grew up to be the mother of Christ.

Helpful reflections
Revisado: 10-20-23
Very helpful reflections in bringing discernment as to how to understand certain phrases in the hymns. Thankful for the clarification and insight as I sing these hymns during Liturgy!

Historia
Just as undertaking a journey into an unfamiliar land or climbing a mountain requires an experienced and knowledgeable guide, so also an experienced and trusted spiritual guide, a mystagogue, is needed for the spiritual journey, to ascend Mount Sinai and encounter the mysterious God in its darkness, and to climb Mount Tabor and behold the mystery of the transfigured Lord, and to be initiated into the mysteries of the Jerusalem above, our Mother, the Church. The Orthodox Way is such a guide, a book that takes the listener into the very mystery of God, and now speaks to us.

Historia
The author of this work identifies himself as Dionysios the Areopagite, the Athenian convert of St. Paul the Apostle mentioned in Acts 17:34. There are various legends surrounding the figure of Dionysius, who became a symbol of the spread of the gospel to the Greek world. A tradition quickly arose that he was the first bishop of Cyprus or of Milan, and that he authored the Epistle to the Hebrews. According to Eusebius, he was the first bishop of Athens.

Commentary inserted, Catholic bias
Revisado: 12-14-22
I thought this would be just a reading of On the Divine Names, it is not because there is random commentary throughout it that overlays a distinctly Roman Catholic type of interpretation contrary to the Orthodox understanding of St. Dionysius. I would not recommend this for any Orthodox. Forgive me a sinner but I cannot in good conscious recommend this as a result.
