Historia
Jeff Daniels returns with more skits, more songs, and more boundless audio storytelling in Season 2 of Alive and Well Enough. Again, Daniels begins in the middle of all the action and traipses back and forth, up and down, and side to side in the timeline of his life to figure out how he ended up where he did. But this time, he delves even deeper into his craft. He considers himself one of the few actors who didn’t want to direct, but instead to write, and write abundantly.

Another Interesting Jon Katz Story--
Revisado: 10-07-14
I have listened to several books by Jon Katz--they have all been different, and very interesting.
This story is mainly about Izzy, the author's border collie. It contains some very touching stories (and yes, sad) about Jon and Izzy's work with the Hospice organization. It is truly amazing how much joy animals can bring to people, even in short visits.
If you like books about animals, you will enjoy Izzy and Lenore. I certainly did, and I will continue to look for books by Jon Katz.

Fortunately for mystery lovers, the straight-arrow cop John Ceepak and his wise-cracking young partner Danny Boyle are on the case.

Another Fun Ride!!
Revisado: 10-07-14
I love the way all the books in the John Ceepak series are named for the amusement park attractions in Sea Haven, New Jersey. It's one example of the very clever writing of these books. I have not given the author, Chris Grabenstein, enough credit in past reviews.
I enjoyed this book as much as I have the previous installments. This story took us back to Sea Haven, with more mysterious crimes for Ceepak and Danny Boyle to solve. Is was as humorous as always, keeping it light and entertaining. And the narrator does a wonderful job bringing the story to life.
This is a series I highly recommend--I don't think it will disappoint anyone looking for an entertaining listen--

A Visit to Atlantic City!
Revisado: 10-07-14
In this installment of the John Ceepak series, the police officers from Sea Haven find themselves involved in solving multiple mysteries in Atlantic City. I enjoyed the different setting, especially since I decided to listen to a few of these books back-to-back.
This is one of my favorite series, and if you have not discovered Danny Boyle and John Ceepak, I highly recommend them all. They are well written, perfectly narrated, and a very entertaining way to spend several hours. Enjoy!!

Hell Hole is the fourth book in the mystery series featuring hardened former military PD and current Sea Haven, New Jersey, police officer John Ceepak and his partner, wise-cracking Danny Boyle.
In Hell Hole, Ceepak is confronted with his most personal case yet when he must investigate the alleged suicide of a military corporal who recently returned from Iraq. It turns out that this "locked stall" rest-stop suicide is anything but an open-and-shut case.

Always Enjoy!!
Revisado: 10-07-14
This is one of my go-to series--and this installment did not disappoint.
The police detective team of John Ceepak and Danny Boyle continue to solve crimes and keep the peace in the resort town of Sea Haven, New Jersey. This story involved the suicide of a soldier recently home from a tour of duty in Iraq. But as usual, all is not as it seems.
I would classify this genre as light mystery, but I realized the crimes involved are not so "light". But the author's style of writing keeps the stories from being gruesome. The mysteries are always well constructed, start to finish. And the series' narrator, the multi-talented Jeff Woodman, is second to none.
As always, I highly recommend this book, as well as the entire John Ceepak series!

An Amazing Story—
Revisado: 08-28-14
The first two chapters of this book were very hard to listen to—they describe Haatchi’s (the dog) and Little B’s (the adorable little boy) lives and circumstances before they found each other. Hang in there to reach the best part of their story—their love and devotion to each other, and the powerful effect this relationship has on, not only themselves, but those around them, including total strangers near and far.
I’m glad I found their story—it will stick with me for a very long time. Best wishes to them and their family!!

Good, but not my favorite--
Revisado: 08-27-14
Others may enjoy this book more than I did. It is very well written--with beautiful and detailed descriptions--and narrated perfectly. However parts of the story really turned me off, especially some of the descriptions of the haute cuisine and the preparation involved.
Even though this novel was not my favorite, I would try others by the author--I love beautiful description in books--and that was this book's best feature.

Thoroughly Enjoyable!!
Revisado: 08-19-14
I really enjoyed One Plus One--it is a well written novel with a sweet story. And I love multiple narrators when appropriate, and all four of these narrators portray the characters perfectly--it was a great book to listen to!
I loved the reality of this family--struggling in today's tough times, but hanging in there with the ever-optimistic Jess leading the way. And even Ed, who is unexpectedly thrown into Jess' family chaos, has very real-world issues he has to deal with. But you end up rooting for all of them--and it's an up and down journey the whole way.
I highly recommend One Plus One--not only is it entertaining, but it is a refreshing reminder that optimism, honesty and generosity are still the best traits for us to embrace.

Historia
Georgie McCool knows her marriage is in trouble. That it's been in trouble for a long time. She still loves her husband, Neal, and Neal still loves her, deeply-but that almost seems beside the point now. Maybe that was always beside the point. Two days before they're supposed to visit Neal's family in Omaha for Christmas, Georgie tells Neal that she can't go. She's a TV writer, and something's come up on her show; she has to stay in Los Angeles.

Let's Plug In Our Landlines!!!
Revisado: 08-17-14
I loved this story! It is well written, well narrated, and it's philosophy will stay with me--I'll just think of the landline :)
The novel is presented very well--told in the present, revealing the past through remembrances. And then the "magic phone"--the old yellow landline--throws a bit of time travel into the story. That sounds weird, but it totally works!! I began to look forward to the landline conversations almost as much as Georgie did!
I highly recommend Landline--I thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely look for other books by this author.

An Interesting Saga!!
Revisado: 08-04-14
Once again, I must give credit to wonderful people who write reviews--otherwise, this book never would have come across my radar!
I read a review by a listener that I follow, and saw that this book had an excellent overall rating, plus the rave review I was currently reading. I put it on my Wish List. When I got around to listening to it, I was very glad I did. Chiefs is a very interesting novel spanning over 40 years, and starts with the first Chief of Police appointed in a small Georgia town. A recurring mystery flows through the stories of three of the early chiefs--one of the ways the stories tie together.
This book was very well written, and truly held my interest throughout. The narrator was not my favorite--but that was my only very small issue with an otherwise very entertaining listen.
