meditation visualization thing

I heard the author interviewed on the 1,000 hour podcast. in it he mentioned the anecdotes about kids unraveling knotted ropes and building their own bikes. nothing in the interview hinted that this entire book leads up to a guided meditation he wants parents to do daily and then gives support for doing the daily guided meditation. not at all what I expected from a parenting book at all, nor what I expected based on the author interview. definitely not in line with a Bible-based worldview.

Great Gift for Dads to Be

We just had our first child, and this book was great for my husband to prepare for the little one. There's so much written out there for moms-to-be, but not much for dads. Since dads don't have the physical changes to get them in the mindset of becoming a parent, it can be difficult to make the switch to parenthood. This book covers it all and really helps to create the right Dad mindset.

This would make a great gift for a baby shower (since Dads don't tend to get much at those) or for a mom-to-be to give the dad-to-be, or for a dad to give himself!

I have always had trouble memorizing things. Now that I'm over 40 memorizing is even harder. I have read other books about Bible memorization, but they used memory palace gimmicks which never worked for me. This book DOES work! It breaks the psalm up into small enough chunks that I can handle it. The 10-10-10 method is really effective. And listening to Allen Smith is like listening to an old friend. His voice is motivating to go back day after day to this book and stick with it.

Love All Around

They say that you have to love yourself before you can love another person. I like that this book realizes that and includes affirmations that build self-love as well as a positive mindset to attract the love of others. Also, this book can be useful both awake and asleep.

Good to read even before you have teens

There is a lot of good information in this book about how to create an open, trusting line of communication with your kids. It's best to start before they become teens, and this book tells how to do that. But if your kid is already a teen and you're just realizing you need to do something different, this book has tips for that too. My favorite element is the parts with examples of real-life families, their issues, and how they overcame. It gives hope!

Great for kids: Informative and Creepy

The narrator for this book was engaging to my son, and pleasurable to me as well. That's not always the case with media made for kids.

It was full of facts to keep a boy interested in a book during the summer, but creepy enough to me (who hates bugs) to go ahead and schedule an extra visit from the exterminator.

Truly Surprising Facts

This book truly delivers what the title promises. I knew less than 10 of the 101 facts, and they did indeed surprise me . . . especially the distance between Africa and Europe!

It was a fun listen as I did errands around town. I remember a few of the facts which really jumped out at me. I figure I'll listen to it again in a while and refresh my memory. A great time to listen would be on your way to a family reunion or get together so you can stump nieces and nephews and look like the super smart uncle or aunt. Might also be a good listen on the way to a cocktail party so you have some fodder for small talk.

All around fun!

Most enjoyable gardening book to listen to!

I've been an avid gardener for years, but I do not start my seeds indoors. I hate spending so much money on starter plants each season. I'm so glad I listened to this book.

First of all, I just loved listening to this narrator. I could listen to her all day. Her voice is like one of the best fiction narrators, but this is non-fiction, and she makes listening to it a pleasure.

On top of that, the writing is great. I really enjoyed the use of puns and gentle humor throughout the book. I also appreciated all the definitions. The author would use gardening lingo (some I had heard before and never really knew what it meant) and then afterward define the term in case you (like me) didn't know what it meant.

SO much good information in this book. I definitely plan on listening to it again.

HIGHLY recommend getting this gem. Even if you aren't a gardener, it will inspire you!

I learned how loans for fixer uppers to flip are different from traditional home loans and got some ideas of how to find an investor and mentor.

I liked that the entire PDF of the book is included to download with the audiobook.
