Historia
In this groundbreaking biography of the Japanese emperor Hirohito, Herbert P. Bix offers the first complete, unvarnished look at the enigmatic leader whose 63-year reign ushered Japan into the modern world. Never before has the full life of this controversial figure been revealed with such clarity and vividness. Bix describes what it was like to be trained from birth for a lone position at the apex of the nation's political hierarchy and as a revered symbol of divine status.

Repetitive Assides
Revisado: 05-31-24
There are many points where the author uses shallow terms like 'racist' to describe people, policies, or occurrences without ever explaining his unneeded perspective, or in some cases, even clarifying what he is talking about. The author increasingly simps for radical leftists movements and at one point praised the predecessor to the Nazi party, while criticizing the German monarchy who staved them off. Note this as an example of him borderline leaving the scope of this book. He also uses crazed, radical left terminology unironically.
Overall, the descriptions were shallow and the trail was meandering. Composition wise this was a solid C+.

Based on a decade of research and on interviews with many of Mao's close circle in China who have never talked before, and with virtually everyone outside China who had significant dealings with him, this is the most authoritative biography of Mao ever written.

Absolutely essential and should be required in American schools. This book has helped update my historical knowledge and with my prior existing knowledge on world events, I now have a much greater understanding of modern subversion. What is really going on in the West.

Very good read. It explained a lot of things to me and I was really interested in how conservatives in the 1980s viewed the internet. It seems to have come true.

Kirk defines "the conservative mind" by examining such brilliant men as Edmund Burke, James Fenimore Cooper, Alexis de Tocqueville, John Quincy Adams, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Benjamin Disraeli, Cardinal Newman, George Santayana, and finally, T.S. Eliot. Vigorously written, the book represents conservatism as an ideology born of sound intellectual traditions.

Excellent book that explains the core tenants of conservatism. It helps you understand where politicians really stand regardless of labels and the strange tendencies of the radical left, them being opposed to anything conservative.

Historia
Howard Zinn’s A People’s History of the United States has sold over 2.5 million copies and is still required reading in some high school and college classrooms. But its polemic rewriting of American history as a story of oppression is an agenda-driven fairy tale that has no place in academia. In Debunking Howard Zinn, Mary Grabar debunks Howard Zinn’s lies and traces the damage his mega-bestseller has done to American education, culture, and politics.

Very much enjoyed it in contrast to what I was told by media and school. It's a sobering wakeup from the failed narrative of public schools.

Historia
Once a close associate of Mao Zedong and the nation’s most celebrated poet, Ai Weiwei’s father, Ai Qing, was branded a rightist during the Cultural Revolution, and he and his family were banished to a desolate place known as “Little Siberia,” where Ai Qing was sentenced to hard labor cleaning public toilets. Ai Weiwei recounts his childhood in exile, and his difficult decision to leave his family to study art in America, where he befriended Allen Ginsberg and was inspired by Andy Warhol and the artworks of Marcel Duchamp.

Excellent Personal View of Chinese Fascism
Revisado: 12-15-21
This book is informative, succinct, and inspiring. While I believe the author may exaggerate some things, it was well worth the read to better understand the progression and shame of radical left-wing authoritarianism. The author recently stumped a news anchor during an interview in which the biased anchor was trying to get him to slander President Trump. He stated he believed it is political correctness that is making The U.S. seem eerily like China.

Historia
Robert Conquest has been called by Paul Johnson "our greatest living modern historian". As a new century begins, Conquest offers an illuminating examination of our past failures and a guide to where we should go next. Graced with one of the most acute gifts for political prescience since Orwell, Conquest assigns responsibility for our century’s cataclysms not to impersonal economic or social forces but to the distorted ideologies of revolutionary Marxism and National Socialism.

Great overview of the climate of socialism
Revisado: 03-16-21
Plenty of savvy historical references with some shocking stories referencing things even more unbelievable from our history as man. I highly recommend to anyone who is trying to piece together the mood, mindset, and phrasing of those living under a socialist worldview. Very relevant even today.
