Historia
Malcolm Gladwell, author of New York Times best sellers including Talking to Strangers and host of the podcast Revisionist History, uses original interviews, archival footage, and his trademark insight to weave together the stories of a Dutch genius and his homemade computer, a band of brothers in Central Alabama, a British psychopath, and pyromaniacal chemists at Harvard. As listeners hear these stories unfurl, Gladwell examines one of the greatest moral challenges in modern American history.

To me this book was a "horse of a different color"! I don't think I've read a book of this kind where you delve into the minds of "war-makers". I wasn't even aware that there was a rhyme or reason to war. Thanks for the illumination! I enjoyed it very much and the presentation as well. Other audio books are two-dimentional, whereas this book was more "3D". My Dad knew Curtis LeMay from his time in SAC. My impression was that he liked the general.

Historia
It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

I must say I thoroughly enjoyed the book mainly because I really am not a Royals watcher. I know nothing about their lives and pretty much avoid reading about them in the newspapers and tabloids. In fact, the day his mother was killed, I had initially heard on the news that she was in a car accident and would recover. That day I was flying my daughter and I to the upper peninsula of Michigan. When my daughter told me she had died, I was truly shocked.
It was eye-opening to see how much he really despises the press and paps, he has good reasons. Of course, I don’t live in a fishbowl. If what he writes is true, it is truly sad that his immediate family was so blind to the machinations of the rest of the family and the press.
Sorry Harry, but the way you write about Megan gives me cause to dislike her myself. Seems rather manipulative to be crying and sobbing just as you are coming home. After all, she IS an actress and you are too close to the situation. I don't know her either, but I do wish you both all the best.

This is an up-close look at the lives and work of the brave men, women, and dogs who serve and protect citizens in America and around the world. An acclaimed poet, Rachel Rose never expected to spend her nights careening along the roads in high-speed chases or searching the woods for armed suspects. Yet once she decided to meet the people who devoted their lives to police K9 units, she found herself signing up for the ride-alongs, training runs, and other challenges faced by these courageous people - and canines - on a daily basis.

I thought it was going to be about dogs, not a diary of a lesbian poet and all her fears. Don't waste your credits or money!!! The person reads it well, especially the French stuff, but the story is crap! Maybe because my previous "listens" have been about Navy SEALs, war, spies or stories about war dogs or just dogs in general, this was too foo foo, no substance, no story. At times very disconnected. I kept listening for as long as I did, hoping it would get better or as background noise while I did other things. But enough was enough! I couldn't even finish it.This must be her first book, I can't say I "appreciate" her "style"

Historia
This is the story of two women struggling for supremacy in a man's world, when no one thought a woman could govern. They both had to negotiate with men - those who wanted their power and those who wanted their bodies - who were determined to best them. In their worlds, female friendship and alliances were unheard of, but for many years theirs was the only friendship that endured. They were as fascinated by each other as lovers; until they became enemies. Enemies so angry and broken that one of them had to die, and so Elizabeth ordered the execution of Mary.

"That Others May Live" is a mantra that defines the fearless men of Alaska's 212th Pararescue Unit, the PJs, one of the most elite military forces on the planet. Whether they are rescuing citizens injured and freezing in the Alaskan wilderness or saving wounded Rangers and SEALs in blazing firefights at war, the PJs are the least known and most highly trained of America's warriors. Never Quit is the true story of how Jimmy Settle, an Alaskan shoe-store clerk, became a Special Forces Operator and war hero.

I've never heard of this group, especially in the Air Force. I grew up in the military and even myself thought of the Air Force as a "country club" branch, especially after marrying a Navyman! The air Force's attitude is --It is better to ask for forgiveness than permission! This book showed me a whole different side to them--not the "pansies", I believed them to be!!

Historia
If you want to change the world, start off by making your bed. On May 17, 2014, Admiral William H. McRaven addressed the graduating class of the University of Texas at Austin on their Commencement day. Taking inspiration from the university's slogan, "What starts here changes the world," he shared the ten principles he learned during Navy Seal training that helped him overcome challenges not only in his training and long Naval career, but also throughout his life; and he explained how anyone can use these basic lessons to change themselves - and the world - for the better.

Two dozen Navy SEALs descended on Osama bin Laden’s compound in May 2011. After the mission, only one name was made public: Cairo, a Belgian Malinois and military working dog. This is Cairo's story, and that of his handler, Will Chesney, a SEAL Team Operator whose life would be irrevocably tied to Cairo's.

This was a "no-brainer" being owned by 3 pups myself. I have pinschers, 2 MinPins and a German. I love the "Maligator" breed, but I am smart enough to know I no longer have the energy to own one, but I can admire the breed and stories about them. I was interested in how the military handles dogs and was happy to learn it more or less depends on the handler.
