Elwood Blues (aka Dan Aykroyd) is on another mission—to tell the full story of how two young actors went from blues lovers to Blues Brothers. In this fascinating audio documentary Aykroyd “gets the band back together”, taking listeners on a road trip through time—from late nights in the early days with John Belushi at Dan’s speakeasy in Toronto, to working with blues legends Aretha Franklin, James Brown, and Ray Charles on The Blues Brothers movie, through the founding of House of Blues, the Blues Brothers 2000 sequel, and beyond.

Revisado: 10-12-24
First, why isn't this a major motion picture called On the Road to the Blues or something? The impact the Blues Brothers had on my life is immeasurable. I still remember dancing out of the movie theater with my best friend To this day, when we talk, I call him Jake and he calls me Elwood. This audio presentation is a must listen to even a casual fan (of which there are none-EVERYONE loves the Blues Brothers). It chronically the rather humble beginning to the impact on American music. Dan's delivery is a voice made for this! I love it! 16 stars!!

Surprisingly similar to Person of Interest show that I thought one was based on the other. Recker is a former CIA assassin who is approached by a former NSA agent, Paul Jones, with a plan to help the 'common man'. Jones has unlimited access to the NSA's database and uses it to stop street crimes. The books comes across as sophomore even childish. Simple characters with one note motivations. Dialog is repetitive and action suspense and mystery is absent. This is the first book I have returned.

Historia
The Russian by Saul Herzog is the stunning second instalment in the series that has taken the publishing industry, and Hollywood rights departments, by storm. This dazzling tour de force is a full standalone novel. From the mind of one of the most creative and versatile writers working in America today, this book will surely go down as a classic of the spy thriller genre.

the Gray Man Vs the Terminator
Revisado: 03-09-24
Ironically I was drawn to the Gray Man series because a reviewer said it was unrealistic. well now it is. AI experts are being murdered all over the world. before the reason can be uncovered Court finds himself a target. now he and girlfriend must race around the world locate any friend or foe who will help them. this while a shadowy organization and the CIA are in on hunt as well. it sounds good but 1. the AI angle runs deep into the realm of science fiction and 2. each villian who we're not supposed to suspect is so obvious I was actually angry it took the characters in the book to figure it out. the end is also very predictable. maybe Greany should take a year off as the last few novels haven't been up to his usual excellence. voice acting was great as always.

Historia
America is under attack. Thousands lie dead after simultaneous strikes across the country. The day will come to be known as Bloody Monday. Jason Trapp, codename ‘Hangman’, was a covert operative whose feats became the stuff of legend. He was the tip of the spear—the man his country unleashed when all hope was lost. Six months ago, someone sold him out. The Agency listed him as killed in action. He lost everything—and everyone—he held dear. But Trapp’s not that easy to kill.

The same old, same old
Revisado: 02-07-24
Again we have an indestructible ex- blah blah blah out to save the nation. In today's world of interconnectivity, the story's plot has been done to death. Years ago Will Smith faced off against an all encompassing computer system in Enemy of the State, now we're back with Jason Trapp doing the same. No new grounds has been covered in this thriller, and I'd be willing to overlook that if it was a fun read. But it's not. Every hero is perfect especially Trapp who is an expert on everything he touches. He hates to kill but will enjoy killing this guy...hates the cold but moves with cat like grace through it...he loves suits but hates ties. I got to a point where there was nothing I didn't believe or did believe about this man. The prose is way to long with far too much explanation and descriptions.

Revisado: 11-07-23
The story of a solo DIA agent going into harm's way to right a long ago wrong is pretty standard for this genre. But this story quickly goes downhill. First, from the moment he starts his mission he does everything wrong. No exaggeration. He even breaks his ankle while parachuting in all the while going on and on about he's an Airborne Ranger. I could have done without the lengthy explanation about everything from his mental health to every single piece of equipment - but he takes pity on a teenage ISIS fighter just because he knows an Eagles' song, I was done

Way too long
Revisado: 10-25-23
One Rough Man is a perfect example of giving the people what they want. Our his bare Logan is yet another indestructible special operator in a secret organization who has suffered an incredible personal tragedy. Alone and wondering if he should go on, Jennifer, a damsel in distress, eh, I mean a college student, enters his life setting off a series of unbelievable events leading to drug dealers and of course terrorists.
The author believes more is more. There is way too much dialog and way too much explanation of...everything. Pike goes from honed professional to raging out of control from one scene to another. Likewise Jennifer is mousy and afraid of everything to facing down terrorists and leaping off buildings in a daring displays of acrobatics. And of course true to type Pike has no problem murdering people with his bare hands but talk to a pretty girl? Gosh!
The plot is also unbelievable revolving around a WMD no one has seen or heard of yet the world needs to stop and take notice because Pike says so.
The narrator is extremely dramatic but I can't blame him because that may have been his instructions.
Couldn't wait for it to be over.

Way too much
Revisado: 10-04-23
Lance is... you know the rest. A broken ex- blah blah blah. And he is the only one who can save the day.
The novel is long on set up; introducing key characters-shady spy masters, mysterious women, evil Russians. It's nothing we haven't seen before. The author provides tons of details and is clearly from the Tom Clancy school of storytelling, but sometimes more is just...more and not necessarily better.
The threat is real and propels the story forward, but the hang-ups of the characters and just overwhelming amount of back story really slow it down. The twists at the end are completely out of nowhere. Plus, there is the obligatory speech by the President about democracy and the sheer awesomeness of America that is so forced even this old airman rolled his eyes.
The narrator, however, was very good and kept me engaged.
