Historia
Dr. Peterson guides us through the ancient, foundational stories of the Western world. In riveting detail, he analyzes the Biblical accounts of rebellion, sacrifice, suffering, and triumph that stabilize, inspire, and unite us culturally and psychologically. Adam and Eve and the eternal fall of mankind; the resentful and ultimately murderous war of Cain and Abel; the cataclysmic flood of Noah; the spectacular collapse of the Tower of Babel; Abraham’s terrible adventure; and the epic of Moses and the Israelites.

I engaged this book a while back and feel like I’m understanding more of what Tolle is getting at. Sometimes he’s still a bit esoteric for me, but the Corp. principal really resonate.

Counterproductive
Revisado: 12-01-20
I have to atop using this resource because she gets you into a still and relaxed state and then every time abruptly ends the session with a self-promotion. “Ok you are done. I’m __________ and ....” Why talk when someone is supposed to be asleep? It makes no sense. I was jolted out of near sleep tonight by it. Very disappointing. It actually alarmed my body and now I am wide awake. 😢

Historia
Messy: The Power of Disorder to Transform Our Lives celebrates the benefits that messiness has in our lives: why it’s important, why we resist it, and why we should embrace it instead. Using research from neuroscience, psychology, social science, as well as captivating examples of real people doing extraordinary things, Tim Harford explains that the human qualities we value – creativity, responsiveness, resilience – are integral to the disorder, confusion, and disarray that produce them.

Making space for the mess
Revisado: 05-23-18
The principles explored in the book are as relevant for personal relationships as they are for organizations, communities, and other human systems. This is also an important book as virtual reality and artificial intelligence become more of a focus in the business and technology sectors. I also felt empowered as a parent to allow —and perhaps even create — space for messiness in my children’s lives. Lastly, as a “piler” rather than a “filer” I felt encouraged that my messy way of approaching my life is perhaps not as dysfunctional as it may appear on the outside. Of course there is always a balance to be struck but I think holding space for the messiness that is simply part of the human experience is something missing in so many facets of American culture.
The audio book was a delight to listen to.
In short, I highly recommend this book.

A must-read!
Revisado: 06-29-17
This is not only a great book for businesspeople. The principles can apply in any role you may have and I believe the principles have the potential to bring the kind of change so many of us crave in both the business world and in our social, cultural, political, and educational worlds.
I also have to say that I have craved milkshakes a lot while listening. :)
