So many weak-to-strong rpg authors think that they have to turn their MCs into mealy-mouthed pu$$ies. I guess it’s partly to make the MC more ‘relatable’ because most real people are weak, out of shape, unathletic etc. Osadchuk doesn’t do that. His MC dominates in every situation and acts like a man, not some weak-willed pu$$y. Combine that with an impeccable storyline and truly gifted cultural awareness and this book series absolutely ROCKS. Couldn’t be happier, can’t wait til the next book comes out!

The MC is just another pu$$y who wins/succeeds in cultivation at the whims of others

This series is going to be extremely tedious, I can already tell. Lindon is a pu$$y. Can’t fight, can’t cultivate, only achieves success at the hands of others, etc. He’ll constantly be pitted against better fighters and win only through tricks or the help of others. Is it so hard to portray an MC as a badass who achieves and wins on his own? So disappointed.

Scot Harvath ROCKS! But seriously, Thor is very talented. I like that Nicholas made an appearance and worked with Scot’s team again. And I like the fact that at least part of the book took place in America and introduced new characters (Maggie and Conroy). The action scenes were especially good in this one, especially the clinic shootout. All in all, I loved it, five stars, and I can’t wait til the next one!

Why make the MC such a Streisand?!?

I enjoy the writing and the story is good. But I just don’t understand the current LITRPG trend of making the MC a weak, bumbling fool. You have the chance to make him an infallible badass, and yet Richter is 1.)immature, 2.) weak, and 3.) constantly portrayed in the fight scenes as a bumbling idiot. I have to assume it’s a weak-to-strong progression arc, but if so, make Richter a beginner prodigy at battle who still has advanced techniques to learn from Yoshi, but still kicks the most ass in every fight. Instead, for example, in the section I’m in now Richter just got Yoshi and his team trapped underground, comes off like a boob, and instead of fighting with the team, he gets knocked unconscious tripping over his own feet as he opens and closes the door??? Come on!

All of the internal dialogue, moral handwringing and second-guessing during combat is terrible. How hard would it be to write your MC as a badass with natural fighting ability who kicks ass every fight instead of getting owned everytime until others come to the rescue?
